I mean if you think 153 quid a shift is crap money then fair play but it ain’t for me,I’ve worked everywhere …new look,asda,Davis haulage but my favourite is eddi stobarts who I drive for regularly

pmsl, fair play to you, carack the ■■■■ on
From a selfish point of view I’m hoping people will be put off and stay out;
It can bite you though like with builders in the UK setting up an almost closed shop for apprentices, then the immigrants come in seeing double or triple pay compared to home earnings, no locals are skilled for the boom and just like I would they get to work abroad and learn a language, work hard, know it’s not going to be for ever and then go back home with a full bank.
Every trade is getting hit by immigration, my main trade is a builder but always fell back on to my HGV when times got bad, this has been the worst time of all , I don’t think there’s any chance of me going back building now, I do like the regular wage I receive now but I also see more & more forgiven drivers in British motors at truck stops ! It’s only going to drive wages down as they tend to be happy to work for less, as there earning loads more than what they did in there own country
Hey, I’m from abroad and I like big wages. I spend them where I live - UK this time. Not everyone’s the same but I know the problem is there…

MadRide, I just want to say thanks to you for showing some understanding of the situation here. I also appreciate and always have, the position with immigrants who come here to work.

Its lads like me struggling to get a start that find this very heartening! good stuff fella, keep it up
B…
I don’t have to worry about hours I only do thirty hours in the week so I’ve got enough left for my 15 hrs on a Sunday whilst keeping in my 90 hr fortnightly max and I earn 153 after tax for fifteen hrs at 13.75 an hour which is what I get off stobarts at the weekend,and the agencies in stoke I use are Atr,acorn, and think purple,again I say to anybody struggling to get a start sign up with every agency you can and then when you’ve done a shift for them and everything was good they’ll use you more and more,oh il add another one my agencies pay me bang on the button every time and are all top blokes so I guess that’s another load of ■■■ to put you off seems to me the people who try to put you off are just fat lazy slobs who think they’re special cuz they’ve drove for 20 years and won’t accept less than 20 pound an hour and want somebody wind their legs down for them
If you see a bloke in a stobart wagon with his shades on and stupid big grin on his face its probably me il give you a wave
I presume your getting your weekly rest in somewhere then!

Fair play to you pal.
Hey that is good to hear. This is my first post as only registered on this site a couple of days ago. I’m planning on training with Peter Smythe soon for my Class C. I started my theory with them it must be 2 years ago now but became put off by not getting work due to no experience and so on. I work in adult mental health and pretty much have done for the past 14 years but have wanted to make the change for a few years now. Sometimes we just stay in the safety of a job we do well but don’t really want to be doing. I am now going to take the leap to make that change. Thanks again for your positive words.
