Done over by planner

To be fair you do have a bit of a rose tinted view as to what office work is like! Many office jobs aren’t anything like as easy as you make out. Some may be, but I’d say they’d be a minority, certainly in this industry

Most drivers heads would explode if they had to do a planners job for day at a big haulier. Phone going all day, constant hassle, new problems to solve all the time… it’s bloody stressful. Much better to be out on the road, even if your finish time is unpredictable.

No way could I handle listening to drivers spouting the dummy all day. Had a lad who has started working with me moaning on the phone because he was out of hours and had no food and needed the toilet. Fanny chops.

Apart from listening to the moaners like you said, I’d also find it difficult on those occasions where you have to phone up one of your good guys & break the bad news that their days about to go ■■■■ up. Probably easier if your dealing with trampers, but with day/night men your potentially screwing with their lives.

Are we there yet …

I don’t start till 08.30 some days.
I wouldn’t be working till 11pm the rest of the week thou.
All you have todo is park up at reasonable time.

Dozy’s threads are beginning to sound like episodes from the old black & white TV series “The Lone Ranger” especially when the narrator used to say at the end of the show
"tune in next week for the next exciting episode of… "

One week he’s going on about driving through someone on A66 flying around like a maniac.
Then he’s moaning about planners giving him the run around.

You can’t have it always.
If the planners know you will do it they will keep pushing and pushing.

I think he is a superb internet fisherman.

Having a similar inkling, beav. A curious case study, and no mistake.

I think there should be a weekly ‘Tales of Dozy’ thread a bit similar to the who’s seen who threads.
Even if he is trucknets greatest fisherman I like reading his latest dramas and dilemmas

Maybe T&D could print some of Dozy’s daring doo’s and give everyone a chuckle.

Today TNUK …tomorrow Hollywood ■■

Don’t understand why drivers do 15 hr days at the moment I am on approximately 11.30 hrs don’t mind going to 12 but anything over that and I would start looking elsewhere, end of the day you have to have some quality of life if you are a day driver,at least 3 hrs a night off before bedtime so you can relax have some food watch TV or go to the pub whatever is your preference, you do 15 hr days and you might as well go straight to bed as soon as you get in from work, not for me
