The gift that keeps on giving. If you hate this job so much, pack it in.
Or get out the lube, and take it like the girl you are.

Christ! It’s only Tuesday, how can you be worrying about Friday already??

Is the “planner” called Ralph"?

Is it law at that dump, where no one with an ounce of sense would wish to work, that you have to max your hours out every day at the whim of some bloody planner…or is max hours to make the wage up to a normal weeks wages for two weeks bloody work.
Just don’t get why anyone stays at the bloody place, alongside Ocarrdo and Merrytime with their infernal bloody spy cameras and other such last resort jobs, i’d rather sweep the bloody streets for the local council than work one day for the sods.

Jack it in. Why do you tolerate this crap dozy?

If I walked in the door at 8.30am and got given jobs to last me till 23.30 I’d be well prepared to leave the keys where they are and get back in the car, as would any sensible person. Total ■■■■ take.

Do you enjoy the stress? Every week you’re on here stressing about how crap your job is. Yet every week you go back for more. There are crap jobs out there mate, you’ve got one. Either ■■■■ it up or move.
(My attempt at tough love!)

Dozy grow a spine ffs tell them to poke it.Did you not work 6 days last week a would say i have to repay my break.Tell them you need 66 hours off ■■■■ them get sometime at home .

Over the past few months dozy has gone from a funny idiot who hits Tesco’s, to a man struggling to keep his marriage and his job at the same time. And it’s actually quite sad.

Tell us where you live, somebody will know where you can try for a job.

I don’t work for the company , I’m day hired too them , £5---- per day , so they want every hour they can out of me as it costs them £5 — whether it’s 1 hr or 15 hrs , I don’t want to do any more hours than I need too , but now I’m mom- fri I can just about live with being abused mom- thurs but not fri, and not until nearly midnight , surely they should be trying too get you back fri, by changing me too a 9.30 Coll it could well be close on midnight when I get back , I started mon at 3 am :exclamation:
I get the same £ whether I do 4-19.00 or 9- midnight , so I’m certainly not chasing the
Nb on a footbnote I dropped in at another depot , who should be there , my planner from years ago , how are you sweetheart , where’s that smile of yours gone , wish I still had her , we worked together , lovely lass

I don’t Connor , I’m day hired out ,

Get another job ffs, life has enough issues to cope with without worrying about a rubbish job.
Reminds me of my mate who does exactly what his boss wants,he puts work before family all the time and try’s to justify it but you can tell he hates doing it.

At least you can have a lie in,stop moaning.
If you don`t like the way the company works get another job

I can sympathise to a degree here doze as when starting late its not irrational to consider the max time you will be ‘expected’ to work to.

If your on a Mon to Fri shift pattern and planned on running in Sat anyway then its not always a bad thing to have some late hours in your pocket to run with outside rush hour.

However I presume your contract of employment is around the 50 hour mark with ’ reasonable’ amounts of overtime expected, in which case come Friday you would have completed your ‘reasonable’ overtime requirement and could finish at 6.30 (10 hours per day).

What appears to be happening is your in a zone of the more you do the more they want you to do and you comply up to the unenviable position of feeling you have to work max hours. This vicious circle needs to change and you have to change it for reasons of not only a better work life but also an improved home life as like it or not a crap week at work will bleed into your quality time with your loved ones.

In my 20’s and 30’s I would lube up with the best of them and do as many hours as possible and then some but now im in my 40’s my experience with planners trying to make a name for themselves has allowed me to put my foot down a bit with no fear of job loss.

The first thing you need to do is slow down, this makes very little difference in time on the road but a massive difference to stress levels, I believe running 2mph under the limiter should be taught when taking HGV lessons.
The next thing is to pull your week in a bit by not running your time out, say 13 or 14 hours max, park up early.
Also let your planner know you want to finish early on Friday if that is the case.
Other things like dont worry about being late, if the jobs finished quick dont be to quick to inform your planner, take a breath.

Only you can end this circle of doom (ironically thats my nickname for the wifes ringpiece), take your life back, see how working 3 to 5 hours a week less makes very little difference to your pickup.
Im not fond of the impression ‘man up’ as im sure you can be a man when needed. Perhaps try reminding yourself of why you work by placing a picture of your loved ones in your truck then think to yourself if I carry on like this oneday they wont be there or there will be a different bloke in the picture.

Just my thoughts…

Just tell the planner you’re not prepared to work until nearly midnight, as trying to park up that late or getting home in the small hours is not on. Just say you’re only prepared to do 10 hrs, if he doesn’t like it, tough luck. If you keep laying down, get used to being walked all over. You really need to get another job. They’re not the only firm in the area

Dozy - actually any of you other guys who work at the big green undercutting machine! have they changed the way you are paid? just wondering as they have got rid of the travel to work scheme for agency bods and wondering if they will soon be clamping down on the likes of stobart who make a crap wage up by adding on things like meal allowance etc?

oh and relax given your track record something will happen before Friday
