one of my friends done 7 days in a row by mistake on a Class 1. He had scheduled one day off on saturday, but has been changed, cos he helped to move one of his friends into a new house. Then he forgot about when he started the week. Was a company driver for years, and (got)had a new agency job.
How can he explain this mistake to DVSA ?
Is it better to write a letter to say apology for DVSA? Or wait for the fine and points to arrive?

If I ever made a “mistake” like that I would snap my digi card and order a new one.
The card has been downloaded by the company where he done(used to work on) the 7.th day. As far as I know, the company also send the data from driver’s cards to the DVSA.Am I wrong?
If this would work other drivers could do this to avoid fines, and just spend £21 on the new card.
Every time I finish my shift, they download my digi card. I assumed that, they have to send datas to the DVSA on a scheduled pattern.Or they have to keep it for 5 years. If they get an inspection, the DVSA will see that a driver worked 7 days, 4.5 years ago, and even years after the infringement they can issue a fine for him.Am I wrong?(Would be great if yes)
The downloaded data sits on the operator’s computer and should be examined by the transport manager. But it’s never sent to VOSA and the only time they would ever see it is on a site visit.

Absolutely correct at the moment but things are changing.
The DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme will see some operators sending their data to DVSA on a regular basis. There are already a number of operators trialling this scheme this year and if successful it’ll be rolled out nationwide.
So ultimately for some - the Operator will be sending your data direct to DVSA
