You can a small PortaPotti that fits in the passenger footwell.
I run with bin liners. If needs must in a lay by then double them up, cut loose in them and either put it in a bin or take it with (leave no trace).
Don’t leave it for the family stopping to eat their picnic. Kids are notorious for standing in no2’s )
The bin liner is a good idea.
Didn’t someone advocate the use of carrier bags? Stick a leg through each handle and then you can use your hands free to wipe your Harris and hold onto something while in the “position”
Check out the watering can for the ablutions.
You ‘run with bin liners’ implying it is solely for the use of crap ing in…ok
So.. Is it like a regular thing rather than a one off, a routine almost for when you stay out.?
(I’m assuming that you aint on a wind up here btw😄)
So out of interest (term used VERY VERY Loosely btw😃…it’s more as a discussion on the thread )
Not having a go…each to his own etc etc, but are you content or even happy that you find yourself doing the tramping job like this ?
If you have say …5 nights out, how many of those nights (or mornings) do you find yourself sat with your arse stuck in a bin liner?
Cab or trailer?..
If cab…
Does anybody else have the misfortune to have to use the truck when you finish your week?
I aint shocked in the slightest, more intrigued… as to how you say this in like a normal '‘matter of fact’'way as if it is '‘the done thing’.
I personally just find it self demeaning, so I flatly refuse to be reduced to doing the job like that, I look upon it as me having a bit of self respect or dignity.
As professional drivers we should be provided for in terms of proper facilities, as a matter of course.
Hey! Maybe it IS the done thing ..and it is just me who refuses to do the tramping job this way…but I doubt it.
I prevent it by making sure I park somewhere near a bog if I need one, even if it means going slightly off route…and why I refuse to park in lay bys.
If we all just accepted this as ‘normality’., then ‘they’ would never improve things on the road for us.
As I said in the other thread we are TRAMPers not 'kin TRAMPS.
Also if the public perceive us in this way as to acting like this, is it any wonder few of them have any respect for us, and look upon and treat us like second class citizens.
just the way it is mate. I don’t go out my way to have to sit in a bag on the unit catwalk but boss won’t pay parking.
I usually run my card to the knuckle most days to get the job done. However, I have between 800 and 900 reasons a week to run like this.
Don’t care or even think the public would change the way they view us based on whether I cut loose in a layby or not. The standards of driving in general reflect that.
Not any more demeaning than prison or the army when you need to go, to be fair.
Have a good day.
Ok but speak for yourself mate…it aint '‘the way it is’'for me, nor ever has been.
The job is as good or bad as YOU make it.
I only just started paying for parking in last 2 or 3 years, (we get reimbursed) but it was after we got word that we would be charged for stolen fuel if parked in lay bys…
So beat em with their own stick/make the #### s pay.
Never parked in lay bys, and 99 times out of 100 always found somewhere near facilities on ind estates etc.
I get job done without ‘‘running to knuckle’’ and still park sensibly.
If I had to do so I’d be getting another job
It’s a job not an endurance test.
Another reason to find a less stressful job mate to avoid your first heart attack.
Tbh I don’t care either on the whole what they think of us, but I have enough self respect to refuse to be treated like a second class citizen…this sort of stuff just fuels it,.which is why I am quick enough to distance myself from people thinking I am like that.
Never been in either mate so wouldn’t know…,but I have got one or two mates who have been in either or both who would likely argue with you on that.
Not trying to come across as a smart arse mate, but I have done this job a long time, and refuse to be pushed or abused, and certainly refuse to find myself with my arse in a bag just because the powers that be do not gaf about us and our welfare.
If I did, they would have won and me lose…which goes against everything in my unservile arsey nature.
You also have a good day.
each to their own, as you say mate. My boss doesn’t push or abuse me, he does exactly the same and has said job’s not for everyone.
Never hear from him, ever. Paid from minute card goes in until it comes out. If I want an extra couple of hours sleep, during the day, occasionally, then he doesn’t care as long as load’s there on time.Only wants to hear from me if there’s a problem, which is rare so I’ll take layby’s over a truckstop and a shower all day long.
We got a lass works with us, she’s of the same mindset. Fifer, mind you, lol.
One of the better jobs to be fair. Pollocks / Malcolms day cab for over a decade. That was demeaning, as in the way some of the clowns in traffic spoke to the drivers.
And as you also say mate …each to their own, and you have just pointed out to me the good points of your job.
I have also worked for a couple of great firms (not like the one I work for now) who treated me like a grown up, looked after me and all the rest of it.
But from my pov it still did not mean the price for that was having to park in sh hole lay bys and include the subject of the thread…and it certainly would not have me not showering.
Anyhoo …if you are happy with it, it does not matter a f what I think about it eh?
I just think drivers should not allow this type of crap (no pun intended) and stand up for themselves to prevent it…no matter how good (or bad in my case) your firm is.
My firm is awash with b/s aimed at drivers, I just try and deal with it the best for myself, and managing to do so ok, …you win some you lose some.
I only put up with it because I love the actual job type that I do and have no desire to go back on general kin haulage.
yeah mate. It’s all good man. peace out..
Peace and love man…
Drop the mic.
Laters .
Everyone knows that you should fit a bumper dumper https://bumperdumper.com/
I knew of someone who used to have one of those on his passenger seat.
You can imagine that there was not exactly a queue to drive his truck when he was on holiday.
I’ve only been once in a carrier bag in the back of a d/d in the centre of derby , was fine when I passed srvs but no way was getting to the collection place .
It happens , we’ve all had bad stomachs.
Only time I thought was a bit much , driver in full view at side of road ( no attempt to hide himself ) squirting one out , horrible sight , should have got under trailer .
