Don’t be helpful!

So just read story below - Seem’s being helpful is no longer an option

More than bit worrying that these scum can drive at a police officer and yet someone try’s to stop them by blocking road - not deliberately running them over ffs. They ran into truck!

Then Miss Danielle DASH(? What the ■■■■ is that as a surname ?) gets all uppity and whines about it -as do others say vigilante! Would they defend the alleged thieves if they had killed someone in efforts to escape? Doubtful

Nice of them to say he was investigated but not arrested - he’ll think twice about helping next time .

No doubt then it will be headlines about how a nasty truck let thieves get away!!

So backward is this country , it’s not a Brexit we should be worrying about but common sense leaving the country

Waitrose lorry driver swerves across road to halt moped youths in police chase
A Waitrose lorry driver swerved across a busy London road to halt two moped riders who were being chased by police.

The pair were being pursued by police through Catford while riding on a scooter on August 1 at around 8.15pm.
At one point in the pursuit the rider sped up and drove directly at an officer knocking him to the ground, leaving him injured, police said.
He then made off along Brownhill Road where the Waitrose heavy goods vehicle swerved in an apparent effort to stop them in their tracks.
The scooter crashed into the lorry and the two riders fled the scene on foot, police said.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said both rider and pillion passenger ran from the scene in different directions.
The driver of the lorry was not arrested. Officers said the lorry and driver were inspected by the Met’s Commercial Vehicle Unit and the driver was not reported for any offences.
A 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault on police, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Inquiries are ongoing to trace a second suspect.
Kay Sloane, 36, told the Sun: "It was really frightening. I was putting the children to bed at around 8:15 when I heard this almighty bang. My husband thought it was thunder.
"The moped crashed into the police man on his bike first - how he’s not killed anyone or himself I don’t know.
"What would have happened if I was going out or coming in with the children?
Video footage of the aftermath was posted to Twitter by user Danielle DASH.
The lorry can be seen in a diagonal position across the entire road. A moped can also be seen on the ground along with police cars and an ambulance.
Danielle wrote: "Hi Waitrose. Is it the policy of your company to encourage your HGV lorry drivers to use their vehicles to crash into alleged moped thieves?
"The two young men fled the scene after the violent act and we are unsure of the severity of their injuries.
She added: “The Waitrose driver acted in a way that could have resulted in these young men’s deaths.”
“The Waitrose driver swerved into them to stop them. The driver’s intentions weren’t malicious he just wanted to stop them.”
Others were critical of the driver’s actions, labelling him a “vigilante.”
Waitrose refused to comment.

Hhhmmmm, not sure on this…What if the only crime committed was the theft of a chocolate bar and then assault against a copper and mr hgv driver killed them both, doubt he’d be let off his charge of causing 2 deaths by dangerous driving.

“He then made off along Brownhill Road where the Waitrose heavy goods vehicle swerved in an apparent effort to stop them in their tracks.”…this bit makes it sound quite deliberate, not just blocking their paths more purposely attempting to hurt/injure.

Maybe so but I doubt Waitrose deliberately tried to hit them more like he blocked road ?

Point is, it used to be normal to try help apprehend but these days it more likely you’ll end up in more ■■■ ■■■ then the actual perpetrators!

No wonder half get away as no one can risk helping.

Hell you can’t even risk saving someone in a medical emergency even if acting good faith as it’s not worth the hassle of defending actions anymore. Sad fact that you’d actually be thinking twice before saving a life

Well one offence we can be sure of, is failing to stop when requested to do so by a police officer.

Anyone noticed the only people condemning it on Twitter are a certain ethnic group? Everyone else is applauding the driver

That´ll be the ethnic group of “Thieving little moped riding ■■■■■■■”

Well I bloody well applaud him.

If I was to see the police in pursuit is someone and it was obvious who they were chasing I’d be very tempted to pull over slow them down.
Was in central London not long ago. Sat In traffic cop car behind me for miles. Next min lights on overtakes me stops oncoming car .
Car door opens fella makes a run about 6 coppers appear from.noware tazer the fella In front of me. And all passers by stupid car drivers are out with there phones getting all excited despite coppers telling to.to politely pee off

Be very careful with this! A good few years ago I was s/b on the A1 near Boroughbridge when the traffic was slowed by three police cars in front forming a rolling roadblock. I was in the n/s lane when I saw in my mirror a plain car hooning down the hard shoulder with a number of police cars in pursuit. For a split second I considered blocking the h/s to aid the police but the approach speed of them made me decide against it.

Anyhoo, a few miles further along I saw the police cars with the "baddy " car all amicably parked on an on slip enjoying a ciggy and presumably a debrief on how the training had gone! I could easily have killed a number of coppers in my eagerness to help.

Isn’t that why the plain car still has wig wams in its headlights?
See the training all the time on the M5 but the car being chased is always lit up like blackoool iluminations to stop that very scenario.

Next time you rob a bank, make sure your getaway car has flashing lights, you’ll escape much quicker.

best thing in my opinion is mind your own business, even though the driver had the best of intentions,if those little scumbags had of been injured apart from the fact they were thieves they could have sued the driver/waitrose for compensation and they would probably have got away with it in this day and age,i personally would have looked but done nothing and carried on with my job,not worth it nowadays you never get any thanks for trying to help and it’s only going to get worse.

I see what you mean,i know the police have to train but they should not do it on the road and endanger the public,a few years ago a top pursuit driver was putting 2 or 3 trainees through their paces on a public road,he rounded a bend and ploughed straight into a small car crushing it to nothing and killing the driver [a young nurse going to work]it was all over the sun newspaper and if I remember correctly a year later he walked away a free man from court.

on a slighty different subject.

is there a way to tell if an undercover cop car is a cop car.
as in ones you see no markings yet blue flashing lights in the grill back window etc
as at times in traffic you some some cars flashing blue lights in grill back etc forcing there way thorugh . and sometimes you look and i think errrr dont think your plod. more like some chancer installed hs own lights .

^^^^ if it’s an unmarked traffic car it’ll generally have an extra n/side wing mirror cobbled on top of the existing one for the passenger to observe traffic behind. Obviously a CID or proper undercover cop car will not have that. Not sure how true this is but I was told that they also do not have garage names on the number plates. Never bothered looking to see if that’s true btw.

Used to be able to tell by the extra radio aerials, even little short ones. Nowadays they´re all inbuilt in the bodywork or glass. Sneaky effers.

I’d be tempted to help, but not in that situation. Mopeds fleeing will happily mount the pavement and fit through the smallest gaps without caring if they knock somebody down. If that happens, police car is then blocked, you have a potentially serious injury/death and the mopeds get away.

Not sure nowadays, it most unmarked cars we had, the registration generally started with B, as where the car was kitted out and registered up in the midlands etc … and for reference, Black Taxi’s plumber va s etc were used as unmarked vehicles. So what doesn’t appear to be a cop can be … also a lot of fire service and ambulance use unmarked cars too.

They did this twice last Thursday night on M1 between jct 28 and 27,I saw it northbound as I was going south and then saw them setting it up southbound a couple of hours later as I came back north, dark blue Volvo estate chased by marked Bmw’s Boxed in against central reservation…
Volvo did have blue flashers on as well.
