Doing a favour for someone

Some mates of mine have their own business and currently very busy, need someone to drive for them for couple of weeks to cover deliveries - I have my HGV licence but never did CPC as stopped driving HGV before deadline - can I drive for them without CPC if I do not get paid?

Regardless of the pay issue, you would still be driving commercially, therefore, driver cpc is required

Oh go on then, I will bite . :grimacing:
,
It depends what vehicle type you would be driving .
If it was/is a vehicle that requires LGV entitlement then NO . reason being there is an element of `Hire and reward ’ Commercially and it would be yours and your “mates” responsibility to ensure guidelines are followed and DCPC required.
.
But bless you for doing it out of the kindness of your heart, may there be more like you … every transport managers dream :unamused:

Simple answer NO.

And you just know if it were possible everyone would be doing it without a back hander

Only if he isn’t financially benefitting from your driving, regardless of whether he pays you or not.
So if your delivering stuff for him then no.

Drive for a couple of weeks free of charge, aye sure you are pal

If it’s even true, that’s not a favour. A friend wouldn’t ask that kinda favour as it is clearly taking advantage!

2 weeks work, how many beers does that cost?

   lets hope the taxman doesn’t catch up with you either as i doubt very much you’re doing it out of the goodness of your heart

mrginge and maga know the score…

Thanks to all who answered
