The problem is companies have got away with conning drivers into thinking night out money is to pay for parking, so much so it seems to happen without question now. I dread to think how many millions companies have made over the years from drivers through this con.
Coffeholic is correct
All our drivers have an overnight allowance if they have to pay for parking they have to get a reciept and this is repaid on return to base but without reciept no refund.
During the really recent cold spell the MD decided to allow them to stay in the Motorway hotels at the MSA’s as he managed to get stuck and had to stay in one and realised it was not acceptable for someone to sleep in a truck in minus 10 even with all the cab heaters etc.
But again money refunded on reciept as soon as they returned to base.
Slightly different in we are not general haulage.
have a good weekend all

This has been a good thread from the start Where are they now?
s2rich:
I was talking to my new boss today about it and he made a good point . Overnight parking is minimum £20 these days and i average 3 nights out a week . That is £3000 alone just on parking and we have 20 trucks doing nights out so that is roughly £60,000 a year on something that does not need spending .
Minimum £20?
If i was you i’d suggest that if the boss wants to run his wagons on work which means they dont return to base every night, and he wants them parked ‘securely’, then it is going to cost money.
company’s truck = company pays for it to park, end of.
who cares! if your boss pays use them if he dose’nt dont use them,
as for my boss hes pays for everything

god another 2 year old thread. musta donesome back reading![]()
And two years down the line I still think that any driver, except owner drivers, who pays to park the company vehicle out of his own pocket is an idiot.

Paying out of night out allowance = own pocket.
hows that? if you wish to park in a truckstop fine but you want nightout plus parking? your nightout money is yours to do as you wish, either pay to park or park elsewhere and keep your money. if companies paid parking but no nightout money you would complain!
UNBELEIVEABLE IS ALL I CAN SAY.
Its a company tool and they should pay for its upkeep/replacement/use/parking and anything else that incurs cost of running said tool.
A toolmaker does not prvide his own lathe or pay towards the upkeep os storage or anything else so why should we.
Your boss is having a laugh at your expense BIG STYLE.

I wouldn’t mate, i’d be at home !! Anyone who pays for parking out of their expenses wants their head testing.
Coffeeholic is dead on with this one it’s the employers responsibilty and also from an insurance point of view
they are not keen of paying out for damage and theft from your vehicle that is parked in a dodgy layby it’s the
first question they ask was the vehicle parked in a safe place
