Does your Company injure your Lorry?

Just woundering as i got a International Call regarding an Accident.
Do they call now drivers if they fail at the Transport Company?
I would expect the Vehicle is injured in case an Accident shall happen

What?

Injure it?

Dunno about injuries but my last firm gave my coach a nasty dose of swine flu once, took a week to get the poor old girl fit and well

Think he pressed J instead of S …

What?

He recived one of those cold calls from a blame and claim company which shows up as ‘International’ on the caller ID.

He thinks it is in relation to having an accident while driving for someone and wonders if insurance companies are now calling drivers direct when that happens.

He expects companies to insure their vehicles to cover for this eventuality.

the clue is in his username?

What, “■■■■■■■■■■■”?

If you get a cold call asking ANYTHING about your licence, or even to confirm your name and address, I would suggest refusing point blank.

You’ve got Orientals building a database, (they know some details already from the phone book)
Black Sea types trying to trick people into hitting “redial” when they ring off after a single ring, only to find it connecting to a max-rate premium rate call,
Debt counsellors offering you a way out (Just don’t pay as soon as you’re on the chat!)
Mortgage lenders promising you a better deal than the one you’ve got. (yeh, sure baz!)
AND numerous other callers who say something like “Hello erm… Meester Smeeth. I need to check your security details” at which point a police whistle down the phone usually suffices. :smiling_imp:

I get calls for some person called “Witherington” despite the fact that no person of this or similar name has ever lived in this entire street, let alone at my address! :open_mouth:

Occasionally, you get “How are you today?” type calls from a bona fide firm you’ve actually recently done business with.
I tend to be quite rude to these people, for mis-using my data in this manner. They often remind me it is illegal to be offensive on a public phone network, but I retort that it is also an offence to call a number on the “no marketing” register. They usually hang up at this point. :grimacing:

All in all, just because someone knows your name number & address, it doesn’t mean they actually know you. Seems obvious, but a question to them about where they know me usually has them fall over at the first hurdle, especially if they’ve got an accent from a country I’ve not been to. Funny how cold callers never seem to be Scandinavian, German, or French huh?

What?
There’s some bloody freezing callers up there, I’d put money on it.

Why does it do that? Its most annoying.

A few years back I’m sure it used to show the int. no.

Recently missed a call from Slovenia to tell me a friend had died. Seen the missed call, but no idea who from.

If my house phone rings and I miss the call. I NEVER use 1471. If it’s important…They’ll ring back.
