Does TM exam count toward CPC

I am taking my TM exam soon.
Does any of this study or exams count toward my driver CPC (not due for 2 years)?
Thanks

NO - never heard of it doing such

It can count in theory, but only if the course is pre-registered with JAUPT. The only people I know of who have actually done that are Novadata in Braintree.

Jeez! What a nightmare thought!! :open_mouth:

You’d be much better off doing a TMCPC that isn’t ■■■■■■■ with DCPC. The Jaupt guys who run and audit DCPC couldn’t care less if you do or do not pass your TM exams, they don’t care if your trainer is doing a good job, taking longer over the topics which that particular class are struggling with and skipping quickly through the stuff people are happy with.

All they care about is: ID checks, timings, sticking to the lesson plan, the occasional bit of “checking for transfer of knowledge” and making sure you put in a full seven hours, which means only a small amount of breaks in the day (typically 15’, 30’ and 15’). They’re bureaucrats, pure and simple.

TMCPC courses are generally pretty intense; after a head-banging day of financial management and company law, with homework assignments, and you’re desperate to get out of there to chill out for an hour, would you really want to be kept in the classroom just so the Jaupt auditor can tick his box that says “seven hours classroom work completed”?

I wouldn’t know much about that.
I’m doing home study with online exams through CILT.

You would think that 500 pages of material, recommended 70+ hours of study, and six hours of exams could count for CPC too. ££££

Personally I think that taking and passing the Operators’ CPC should exempt you from having to take the DCPC for life. But then I would say that, wouldn’t I? :stuck_out_tongue:

I run TM refresher courses, plenty of TM’s out there who know far less than they should do!

What is a TM refresher course? who is bigger than c&g or sqa

A Transport Manager Refresher course has nothing to do with C&G or SQA or any other examination awarding body.

After Teas & Biscuits with the TC, (or sometimes just under direct orders from DVSA without a TC’s PI) Operators are frequently instructed that if they would like to keep their O-licence, they are required to complete either a one-day or two-day (as mandated by TC or DVSA) refresher course ran by a recognised training provider and to supply the certificate to the TC/DVSA in order to avoid further action. Sometimes a FORS approved TM Refresher is required (far fewer TPs can provide one of those).

Occasionally, people volunteer to do such courses as it “makes them look good” to DVSA/TC.
