Does the job make you stressed?

Is it just me or does anyone else get stressed out with this game? Sometimes i think im my own worst enemy, it all most makes me phyically sick with stress, the thought of being late is simply not an option.

How do you deal with it, if its a problem for you at all?

Not in the slightest. I do my best and if that aint good enough…

C’est la vie

I have to agree with this good chap!

Only when I do stupid things and stress myself out

I look at the time of my 1st delivery to decide start time, after that, couldn’t give a ■■■■ until it’s approaching parking up time.

It’s 100% out of your hands, if you need a break, take a break, if you need to park up, park up, and just enjoy the scenery - whilst avoiding all the suicidal muppets on the road of course :smiling_imp:

If it doesn’t get there today, there is always tomorrow!

If you get that stressed out that it almost makes you physically sick, perhaps a career sat in a comfy chair, listening to music and drinking coffee is not for you?

I did get stressed out and am still suffering, but part of my treatment is admitting it!

i got into this game to rid myself of stress,i remember the day i decided to do my hgv vividly…i was working on a building site fitting juliets to the outside of some buildings in leicester.it was ■■■■■■■ down with rain and as usual the job was a ■■■■ up.
as i stood there ■■■■ wet through, and wishing i was dead,i watched a tipper driver pull on site…he tipped his load, then pulled forward and out with the newspaper and flask.
i remember thinking to myself, that bloke aint got a care in the world…i want some of that :exclamation:
i`ve never done tippers but to me truck driving is a doddle, all i have to do is not crash and keep within the law.i let the office bods worry about everything else :sunglasses:

they’re asking too much so [zb] em.

I’ve never know a problem to be solved by worrying about it so what’s the point of getting stressed over things

when i first started i did get a little stressed, but i think that was down to trying to hard to make a good impression, now i just let it all go over my head, if it can be done i will do it, if it can’t then it wont be done easy as :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I think you may have high expectations of yourself, which is no bad thing. You may also think others have the same expectations…They don`t, they may intimate that they do, but that is just them doing their job.
I have yet to meet anyone in this industry, who actually cares that much.

I got stressed out doing London 3ish times a week, finally cracked, did my thing and then after that, everything was cool :sunglasses: I no longer get stressed, because I am rational.

I will do the best job I can, if that aint good enough, then so be it. Reality is a comfortable taskmaster, it puts everything into perspective :sunglasses:

If I’m late, my philosophy is : if its important enough they’ll unload it, if not, they can have it another day. TBH most container work is replacing Chinese plastic (zb) that has been bought at some store with more of the same, so its not life or death!

No I drive round listening to the radio all day. It’s not hard work.

I used to be a self-employed courier, so then every delay, every bit of waiting in traffic, every breakdown, every puncture and every awkward drop used to cost me actual folding money. So, no, this job isn’t as stressful as that, and I get paid by the hour, so every delay is a pay rise . Planners, managers and people like that can get as sweary and excited as they like about delays, I can’t make the traffic go away, I can’t make queues to tip move any quicker and I can’t stop trucks breaking down.

And then there were those extending summer camps the TA sent me one, the ones to that big sandy hot place. Now those WERE stressful. At least, however bad this job gets, I know the A14 won’t blow up as I drive over it.

If you do a decent job, stay within the law, be polite (difficult sometimes)and don’t take the ■■■■ then it is not stressful.
It does occasionally all fall apart but then just carry on as best you can. I am self employed and get paid by the hour so maybe that helps!
Having worked in a few management or supervisory roles I will say that driving is generally a lot less hassle or stress than constantly chasing KPI’s, sorting out staffing problems and dealing with office politics.
I collect some notes, a bunch of keys and phone in when I need to.

If it is stressing you out you need to consider your job future. It is not worth risking your health, and if you are stressing too much it WILL impact on your health and your life in general.

If the job causes you stress, then it is likely that you do not possess the ability to perform the job.
Perhaps a change of occupation may be wise.

Why change occupation as a result of stress from the job, it’s not your fault you have to come across so many [zb] who ruin it for you on a day to day basis, if you enjoy your job & who you work for then stick @ it & don’t take no [zb] form anyone…!!!

this is why I think he/she should consider a change of occupation

Hit someone kid (14-15) with the front of the trailer as it went over the pavement on a tight traffic light turn, i slowed right down and they didnt move so just carried on, then the arms went up in the air as it hit the one that thought they’d be brave.

Bet that was a worse experience for the poor kid who didn’t expect a artic trailer to join him on the pavement
Beats me how you think this was the kids fault , perhaps thats why you find the job stressful, you obviously dont posess the ability to do the job

Big comfy chair Ipod coffee 2 pedals ever changing view nobody looking over your shoulder.

What’s to get stressed about especially if you are hourly paid, just remember you cannot force it go with the flow, I used to get worked up and it ruins your day believe me. Relax the job becomes so much more enjoyable when you do. Motorcycles are the answer after a day couped up in a cab.
