You are right about them ferries out that way. I was supposed to sail from Odessa but as i got about 100km from the port they decided to wait for a
week to get more traffick on! I had to divert to the border of Kerchi into Russia
then wait there 26hrs while the the customs decided wether to let me change my exit route or not. Next stop Novorossiysk and the pleasure of the Somat ferry into Poti. Was good old session with the Betz drivers on the boat
I was going out to Nebit Dag for a freight forwarder called Deugro. Do you
no if they still work in this area? I think they used to be the biggest forwarder
in Turkmenistan but im out of touch of the logistics side of things in that
area now.

Colin,
Deugro/DGTL are still one of the biggest, if not the biggest forwarders here.
The oil/gas business seems to be the mainstay of their work they’re renting a lot of gear to the chinese on a project to take gas from Mary region, i heard they had a lot of machinery up there on pretty much full-time hire.
They have done some work for us here in the past and are a good professional firm who don’t cut corners - as is the temptation in these parts
This is one of their Mercs - I forget the spec of the trailer, maybe a Nooteboom, but I know they’re geared up for some pretty big heavy haulage operations
I met them when buying bread at the side of the road in Kazak and run
with them for a day an had a few refreshers with them in the parking.
Always found the Bulgarians good to meet up with out that way
That was Bob and Kev on the way to Akmola(now astana) and was just bad bad luck as bob said you couldnt tell where the road was. Great summertime run but wee bit hairy in winter
