Dockspeed International Transport Ltd

Thought these were taken over by Norfolk Line?

Saw one the other day, bright red Iveco with DIT on the fridge.

I’m fairly sure dockspeed were bought out by norfolk line somewhen around
1999.

I remember that the “T” reg units were painted up in blue and norfolk line.

I spotted a dockspeed trailer somewhere on the m20 the other day and thought it was a blast from the past. I can’t remember what was pulling it but the trailer was fairly new.

Just googled “dockspeed” and found this:-

dockspeed.co.uk/

The photos are all of the old dockspeed fleet with doctored reg plates but the site copyright is 2005 so it looks like a phoenix may have risen from the flames.

Cheers
Neilf

tey were brought out by norfolk line, your right, but the guy has sey up again on a smaller scale, was chatting to one of his former drivers… no idea what they are like working fir etc etc

Talking of Norfolk Line, who are Manfreight? They seem to have popped up out of nowhere and every other Norfolk Line trailer is being pulled by one of their units I’ve noticed. Red mk1 and mk2 FH12s. They all go like [zb] too but they’re on English plates, but I suspect Irish origins…

ManFreight have been around as far back as I can remember, since70s/80s
Only a small firm, Manfreights owners brother works in the traffic office in Norfolk lines belfast Office hence Manfreight pulling Norfolk Line trailers = Best jobs probably!!

Anyhow thats the history of Manfreight…

Are they allowed to do that ? I thought there would be a law against using the same trading name after it had been bought out.

Unless they hgave modified it in sumway, Ie. Dockpeed International has now become Dockspeed International Transport Ltd, just an example.

Oh Manfreight ARE from the North of Ireland

EHZ Tyrone Reg…

VIL Feramnagh Reg…

Both Irish Reg,s

manfrieght have been going for ages.

they do alot of work with the norflk line fridges out of co op at alferton.

Aye Manfreight have top priority at norfolkline.

Laser Transport have been going for ages and never been part of Norfolk line as far as i’m aware. We send an 18tonner in there pretty much daily.

I’m pretty sure Laser and Dockspeed were always one in the same. They certainly still share the same address according to that website.

cant remember how long you cant trade for, i think its 3 or 5 years, but apparently that time has elapsed, and they are up and trading again under the same name, i think they are based in hythe but cant remember exactly to be honest

manfreight started '76/77 with one unit and now have approx 25.owner is originally from clones(r.o.i) but trucks are n.i reg.owners son happens to work in norfolkline office but company going long before that doing interland work before it became n/line. think most drivers are scottish.

Just buy the name back off whoever bought it.

According to their website they’re based at Lympne (near Hythe) in the same building as Laser.

Just goes to show, altho this one is legit, it could have easily have closed its 1st Company Dockspeed International Limited owing thousands out and set up Dockspeed International Transport Limited, same banner, same staff, same company but in the eyes of the law its a different company as its has a different company registration number.

This is part of the problem in so many industries espeacially haulage where you can close and open with almost identical name but different registration number therefore different company and therefore your creditors havent got a chance of getting a penny back.

It really does stink and the government really does need to adress it.

dockspeed were nowt to do with laser, same road but that’s all, not even same yard - looking at their website is “transport executive” the same as transport manager? suppose the tea lady’s their liquid refreshments consultant or somesuch? :unamused:

same road but that’s all, not even same yard

According to their website, their address is Dyna House (the same building as Laser) They may well rent office space or somthing though.

i meant the OLD dockspeed dennis, laser were always down the end of the estate but dockspeed were half way up opposite nusteel structures - quite possible as a smaller new startup they rent space off laser, I dunno

As i here it from a subby Dockspeed where taken over by Norfolks who only wanted the full load business, so they neglected the groupage work… so the former owner started again with a similiar name doing HIS old groupage work.

anyone want to go to Spain
