Just a light hearted question.
I like being loaded (full 13 tons on a rigid lol) the wagon drives smoother and even seems happier, she is too bouncy and jumpy when empty with the rear axle up.
So what’s your preferences?
Artics or rigid’s

Loaded.
With the Manitou on the back, she moves around a bit and feels a bit “tail happy” when she’s empty.
F-recs
I have been moving a few of those Manitou and Moffat things about recently on the back of my wagon, groovy things
Unloaded… the Daf CF’s we drive, really make a meal out of any slight gradient with a loaded decker lol But when we get a hired vehicle (a Renault Premium or a Merc Arocs, fingers crossed one day a… a… a… a Scania!!!) I prefer loaded to the gunnels
Much prefer unloaded… it means I’m on me way home!
I drive Daf CF’s, automatic, much prefer empty, cos when loaded pulling out at a junction/roundabout when loaded is a bit of a gamble, new CF’s we got don’t allow switching to full manual, i think the system has been programmed to say driver is not smart enough to select their own gear when gear is above 5
Loaded for me. Too much wallow on an empty rigid CF for my liking.
After all, they`re not designed or set up to run empty are they?
Talking about the artic I’m on I’d much rather be loaded.
On the tippers is rather be heavy (not over loaded before the do gooders ■■■■■)
Loaded - means I am being paid.
Loaded 44t, I love a challenge…
Just enough weight on the pin to get good traction 5-6 ton. Most units won’t struggle with hills with that weight either.
Most of my runs are over Shap or other exposed places so loaded please.
About 30ton gvw is a nice weight for an artic, enough weight to keep it planted, not heavy enough to slow down too much on hills, the brakes handle it well with no grabbing like they do when empty and the ride is nice, especially something with a low COG so you can throw it around a bit in the bends.

can you explain why it is a challenge driving a loaded wagon?
Bobtail, ASR disabled and time to play. That’s what I prefer.

Empty, with a decent trailer ,as in fridge or hanging garments.Longest empty run was from South of Swansea to Casablanca -holiday with pay!

Hiya…cu mon newmercman you wouldn’t have thought 30 ton gross would be nice in the 60,s. can you imagine a Guy warrior with a 150 Gardner going over shap with a head wind…infact going over empty would be a nightmare.
good on you
John
I meant to put 30tons with 400+hp. I had a lorry with a Gardner 180 and that would struggle with 30cwt on its back
