Do you know where you are overnight?

When parking up for the night in a remote or unfamiliar area, do you make a note of the nearest steet name or GPS latitude/longitude in case of calling 999 for falling ill, or the fuel or load is being tampered with ?
Some satnavs display the nearest Position of interest, such as the phone numbers of the nearest Doctor or hospital.
If you are alone in the cab having a stroke or myocardial infarction it could save your life.
Another issue is locking the cab door, the fire brigade will need to break in.
I have some hidey holes for the wallet, but leave the keys in the ignition.
If hiding bank or fuel cards, beware of the electric wiring that affects the magnetic strips.
Or holes where if something is dropped in, items are lost forevermore.
Back of the bunk,is one gone for good place, the gap under the windscreen another, where pens disappear and coins.

With the line of work I’m in I get instructed to either stay parked up at a venue, or on a motorway services. It might costs £20 but at least it’s a well lit and busy area.

Even then I’m still very cautious about locking the truck up. One of the guys goes as far as ratchet strapping the inner door handles together to stop anyone getting in if they pick the lock or smash the window. He keeps a stanly blade nearby in case he needs to get out in an emergency though.

some good ideas but why not just say heart attack instead of trying to be all knowledgeable .bet your local hospital loves you …

Cant believe that someone sleeps with the doors unlocked, if the fire brigade need to get in then a door lock wont stop them, they go into burning buildings you know :unamused: . As for the criminal fraternity, a locked door wont stop them, but it sure as hell slow them down a bit, giving you time to take stock off what is happening. I travel with the doors locked, let alone when parked, you only get someone open your door and try to get you out once :open_mouth: , to make you very careful for your own security :unamused:

As for location in a remote area, we have a very accurate sat trac system fitted to our trucks so would be locatable to a 10 meter square. though we are supposed to park in recognised stops

Remember if you draw a weapon make sure you are prepared to use it and see the job through. Or things could go badly wrong.

I’m in my own bed every night so yes I know where I am every night…

I’ve got an extendable cosh same as the Old Bill use I bought from a shop in Kavos but I kerp that at home as knowing my luck I’d have it in the truck and deliver to a prison forget it’s there and end up not coming out
I’ve got a large rolling pin that will give someone a headache and a large chefs knife I’d have no hesitation to use if someone got in my cab. These I can get away with as I use them for preparing my snap… Well the rolling pin is a weapon but the old bill don’t know that

Yep on the sofa eating little veggie spring rolls with a tin watching NCIS :grimacing:

The stroke would come first because it survival is better than the heart attack,a myocardial infarction has a less chance of survival,as below,

Up to 50% of people who have an acute myocardial infarction die within 30 days of the event, and over half of these deaths occur before medical assistance arrives or the patient reaches hospital. About one third of all deaths occur within the first hour,

Klunk

normally close to a pub, and as for ratchet strapping doors wtf all that about, if they want the truck they can have it, but the sat navs coming with me, are there no real men left in this trucking game, its all wet wipes and frilly pelmets, no wonder the lay by crowd are doing a roaring trade
