Yeah, I’ll go for a cold shower now
.
I race a Citroen AX in autograss, and my other unhealthy obsession is British WW2 aircraft, especially the Avro Lancaster,(My favourite) the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane, the Handley Page Halifax…is there a pattern emerging here?
Ken.
My hobbies include preserving old buses (got 2 buses and a coach now). Also like railways, real and model. The amount of time I spend in front of a computer screen when I should be doing something else means I must also include the internet!!
I like travelling about (lucky really for a driver!) and taking railway photos when I’m in the mood.

I’m into cycling, specifically road cycling, and occasionally doing laden touring. I currently own several bikes, all for different purposed-a heavy Cannondal tourer, a nice Trek 531 steel frame road bike, an old Panasonic fixed-gear, and a classic Raleigh “Dutch roadster”.
I used to rally a Dodge Omni Turbo professionally, mostly in Canada (where the entry fees were lower and the roads were better), but got out of that after driving myself into insolvency. Still, it was fun. Here’s a couple of pics of my car, taken about 2 months before I bought it from the original owner:
(Sorry about the size-I’m hotlinking from their website)
Alex. That car looks not too dissimilar to a Talbot Sunbeam that I used to be a co-driver in during the mid 80’s.
I seem to recall that Chrysler and Talbot were the same company, and part of the huge Peugeot/Citroen conglomorate.
Ken.
Aaahh…Talbot Sunbeam!! I had completely forgotten about that car I remember my dad having one in the late 70’s,then in the early 80’s he “upgraded” to the slightly larger Talbot Horizon.
Thankyou (now wallowing in nostalgia
)
Even better Lotus Sunbeam now that was a good car
simon
Lotus Sunbeam, what a pocket rocket that was Do you remember the Lotus Carlton from about ten or so years ago?? For a big motor it did used to shift along
I remember the lotus carlton the local gangster near me used to have one
big car but very quick
simon
I seem to remember some of the Talbot cars were built in Scotland but not sure what ones?.
My hobby istrying to keep my 1981 Honda CB 900 F2 road worthy and legal. When it is, riding all over the place, where ever I feel like. It does 0 - 60mph in about 4 seconds if I push it. You have to brace your neck before giving it that much wick though, otherwise all you can see is sky and tree tops
.
I also have a 1981 BMW R65 with an R80 engine in it and a large child/adult sidecar attatched. It was the family transportfor the first 7 years that we owned it, when we were posted to Germany. It was used as the family shopping trolley and also we toured a lot of Europe on it, as well as coming back to Scotland on it 3 times in 7 years. We mainly didn’t take long holidays. We took long weekends and travelled to a bike rally . These occur throughout Europe (and Britain) on almost every W/E, so you can pick a holiday in any part of the country that you fancy visiting and go to a rally there.
We bought the bike in 84 and got a new sidecar fitted, for use in Germany. When we bought it. it had 5000 miles on it. When we came back to the UK 7 years later it had 14000 miles on it. The 650 engine gave up at 15000 miles, so I got a recon’ed 800 engine fitted. That only lasted for another 10000miles before it seized. Its been in my garage ever since. When I get the time, money and inclination al at the same time, I’ll get it back on the road.
My other main hobby is sitting in front of a 'puter, on TruckNet UK
God that rings some bells, that Sunbeam
I was saving up for ages to buy one of them, never got it I ended up with my dads austin allegro with a square steering wheel
Talbot Sunbeams were built in Linwood Jammy. It was the old Hillman Imp factory.
The history of Chrysler, Simca and Hillman aka the Rootes Group got a bit messy in the 70’s
I had a mark one ■■■■■■ twincam and my brother had a mark 2 Lotus Cortina
Otherwise hobbies now involve motorcycles, beer and , yes i will have another please
