Another professional showing his expertise!
Was he brake checking though ?
Freight dog you are beginning to sound very much like Carryfast.

Ha that’ll wind CF up . I’ve not mentioned socialism so there’s room for improvement
TBH, I cannot remember the last time I was brake checked, but, I don’t cut people up or tailgate.
I do however see lorries tailgating cars all the time and trying to bully cars out of the way.

Yep sounds like you are one our decent drivers who drives with respect for others.
A rarity these days it seems.
Also nice to see another truck driver admitting to seeing the bully boys ruining what little reputation we have left.
Good on ya fella!
I’ve read through this thread started by Dr D, and as usual it’s another vehicle to enable him to tell us all how unprofessional and how bad a driver we all are.
I also kind of got the ‘‘car driver is justified in his actions, so 100% blame is on the trucker’’ vibe, as others have done.
I aint saying tailgating a car with 44 tonnes is right, because it aint…end of, but surely an element of blame should be put on the car driver for creating this situation in the first place, despite the reactions of the guilty party trucker/tailgater to it being totally wrong, unprofessional, dangerous and all the rest of it.
Just this morning in the roadworks at Knutsford this prick in a Fiesta would insist in sitting in lane 2 at 45 mph overtaking nothing, and would not move over at any price despite me (at a safe distance) flashing my lights.
(and before Dr D has a coronary it’s as advised in Highway code to warn other road users of your presence)
After about 3 or 4 miles of this frustration and getting totally ■■■■■■ with him, I took the less of two evils option and undertook him…shock horror,( but far less dangerous than agressive tailgating) gave him a coffee shaker (yeh I know very un.pro) and carried on at 50.
I aint condoning tailgating as I said, but someone with less patience than me could have reacted in that way, and this prick could/would be the type to brake check.
So… a question for Dr D, have you ever tailgated anybody, or done anything as dubious in your driving history of 30 + yrs, if the answer is ‘‘NO’’ then you are a paragon of driving virtue, as I have to confess I have. .as I have also done most types of irresponsible driving in my time.
Then again I have been a boy racer in a car, I have went out looking for fights, and other young immature things I have grown out of, which are as much a part in life of the process of growing up as sitting on somebody’s bumper in a Ford Transcontinental in 1981 with full beams, ie…I was young, naive,.and arrogant, like most 18 to 22 yr old lads are.
If Dr D has done none of these in his life when younger, he is a better man than everybody else, especially me.
I aint saying all tailgaters are young lads, the point I’m making is to Dr D to stop making out he is a cut above.
Hmmmmm …Something I have also accused Mr UKt on here as coincidence has it.

Hello robroy,
Don’t have much time at the moment but seeing as I appreciate you taking the time to sum up the thread I will reply.
As far as forum members on here go I like you and your input although I do not always entirely agree! Some others I find extremely rude and ignorant.
When I was young I was a real tearaway and very aggressive and not just with my driving but I count myself very lucky the way all has worked out otherwise I probably
would be behind bars now.
As far as the driving side goes I was fortunate enough to be taken off the road very early ( 17 ) and put on a track where I was able to vent my anger and frustration.
Luckily for me I seemed to adapt very quickly and found people who were prepared to help me with my racing which has involved cars and motorbikes. I will not bore you with
anymore details as it probably does not interest you but I can assure you it has had a big effect on my on road driving and definitely for the better.A lot of others (who think they are fast drivers )
would benefit too as I am sure Maoster would confirm.
As far as being a cut above other truck drivers, I know I am and that is not only my opinion. I mean the standard shown from some it aint hard to be better.
I am fairly sure you are a cut above the average as well by what you say on here.
When I drive a truck these days which is not nearly so much as I used to I can 100% say I drive professionally. Not always easy but I always do my best.
I detest seeing aggressive driving by fellow truck drivers hence why I probably vent my anger on here.
jesus…you couldnt make it up…well i suppose you could because there it is all made up already…utter trolling garbage yet again.
you wouldnt know if your reading ukdrtrampjoedozydamon or what,it all just blends together.
no doubt he cant comment more as it takes a lot of time packing your teddies into your rucksack heading off to new zealand…completely laughable fantasy.

Ok, fair comments…, but I just think a lot of your posts are loaded basically and purely to have a pop at drivers, and set up for you to imply how better you are than them.
Thing is a lot of the time I do agree with you, about stuff like poor aggressive driving today, driver quality and the like, in comparison to 15/20/30 yrs ago.
However unlike you, I do not think I am …quote; a ‘‘Cut Above’’ everybody else, as you admit to thinking you are, I just think in some cases I can be more professional, courteous and capable than a few others who just think they are drivers, but will never be in reality.
Again unlike you, I do think that the ‘rivets’ are still thankfully a minority on the road and that there are still a lot of good lads left who are good drivers.
A number of these ‘‘proper drivers’’ are on here I would say based on some good attitudes and opinions,… unfortunately though some of the ‘rivets’ are also evidently present.
Missed the connection with Maoster you mentioned btw, it went right over my head.
It is quite easy to be a cut above the rest in the driving stakes. Especially when some of the drivers on here who think driving flat out every where on their limiters is a bravado thing and the only way to drive. When you realise that this is not the way to drive and to adopt eco driving into your daily routine as well as take the required breaks without simply being forced to take them, only then can you say that your a driver. Common sense. intelligence and knowledge of the road is the key.

Does being on the limiter really make someone a bad driver though UKT? I dont tailgate, have my wits about me always and drive with consideration to others but…i dont hang about either.I max my driving hours each week doing my regular run and plodding along it wouldnt be doable. Flat out on the AP’s and AR’s (like many many others are isnt dangerous and imho doesnt involve any ‘bravado’ whatsoever, its purely just getting the job done and no harm done to any other road user in the process…

I drive on my limiter when it is safe to do so and I feel it necessary, I find by driving at 52 mph better for me, so in answer to your question, there are times for being on the limiter and that doesn’t make you a bad driver, I am talking about the drivers who think being on the limiter is a bravado thing and normal. It isn’t normal or the sign of a good driver either.

What was the traffic in front of the car in front of you like Rob? And for that matter in lane one?
If there was no traffic in lane one, you should not have bothered sitting in lane two, and simply stayed in and passed him in lane one. That’s not undertaking, it’s passing a slower lane of traffic in slow traffic. Moving from lane two, into lane one, to pass him, could be construed as undertaking, because you changed lane to pass him.

Why do I feel like I should be on my guard here and that you are trying to catch me out.
Ok ‘passing nothing’ was maybe a bit too literal, he passed a couple of trucks, sat for too long alongside them, then without me recalling too many details of accuracy, there were long long gaps between other assorted type vehicles in lane 1,.and a couple of cars at various intervals in front of him.
Suffice to say I took it that he had plenty opportunities to pull into lane 1 and let me safely overtake him… basically instead he was being either an arse or an oblivious arse, which is why I u/took him (or passed alongside) him in lane 1.
Now whether it was ‘undertaking’ in the literal and/or legal sense, is for you to decide on… Mr Agreeing Donkey man, and I await your verdict.
That concludes the evidence for the defence.
