Hello
I’m thinking of applying for a job at stobarts daventry depo as a day driver and would like to know if you get the same truck everyday or a different one all the time. I like keeping my cab squeaky clean so thats why i would like to know that before i apply
Thank You
If it’s the same as Goole depot, then NO.You will have a different unit everyday. Some cleaner than others
Would that really affect you applying for a job ■■?
i’ve never worked for stobarts, but i’ve been told that it’s only trampers that get there own truck.
I would assume that like most big outfits they need to earn a profit, and a truck that is stood cant earn anything, so if your wanting days expect a night man to be waiting for your unit for that day as to the planners a
day` truck is just a tool to be used for the next job.

Even then, it’s used whilst your off, either for your rest days or hols etc.
Day drivers get whatever truck is in the yard, sometimes you MAY have the same truck all week, but othertimes a different truck everyday, depends on your finish times, start times, where the night man is going, if it’s being used (they’re not all used every night of course) etc.
Don’t worry about having a clean motor, if it’s dirty, just report it, most of the trucks I’ve been in for Stobarts have been to a good but not excellent standard, but have been in 1 that was MINGING!!
if you give em 12 grand before you start then yes

so they don’t let you take the truck home then?

I wouldn’t want a Stobbies truck outside my house, probably get some ■■■■■■ throwing a brick through your living room window or even worse you would get loads of hassle from the spotters talking ■■■■■■■■ and wanting a look inside
Thank you for your answers.

Probably have spent on average 30 minutes a shift walking round the Crick yard looking for my unit cause there’s that many parked up not moving!
If you get your own day cab, you’ll change your mind about the benefits of “having your own”…
Give me someone else’s night cab any day over anything daytime & crappy that I’m supposed to be proud of, 'cos it’s been personally allocated to me!

Why is the west of J18 still refered to as “Crick” when it is the other side of that junction?
M&S, Sainsburys, etc can be described as “Crick”.
Stobarts, Mothercare, Tesco, Royal Mail, etc. I would personally describe as DIRFT (of ‘drift’ if you prefer!)
Because we call it Crick, ok?
Yeah thats what i thought. Because there are loads of parked up units that are not being used at all so why not give each driver their own that would make sense wouldnt it
hows the working hours in there? Long days, short days or bit of both?
