I’m with switch’ & malcolm’ haven’t used one since the mid nineties. Nevertheless I do glance to see that the handle hasn’t been pulled every time I walk round the vehicle after stopping.

wouldn’t having either a dog clip or a spring clip amount to the same thing in relation to the OP, who was asking re the release handle being operated by some scroat?
Always check after its been left, takes seconds.
Always check it especially in tesco sites, can’t trust the ■■■■■■■■ as far as you can throw them…
