I am asking, because I just saw one of my neighbour driving his cab.
I spoke to them last time when we had snow in Glasgow (mid December that was?) and I pointed to him that he got only one stop light working (of three). He said “oh, yes, I know, I have to fix it” then he drove away.
I saw him once since, still no changes, and now he just drove umnder my window, again, with only one stop light…
I used to do it more, but now I start to think that it’s not worth the effort…
My favourite answer was from the guy, who was driving his P 206 and he has all stop lights on all the time. He told me “Oh, it’s OK, it’s going for MOT next month”
Do you bother to tell the other drivers, and if yes, what was the best response so far ?
(My award for the biggest idiots goes to the Polish police car. I stopped next to them and told them that they have one stop bulb off, they answered “well, let see if your car is all right” then pulled me over and checked everything for next 15 minutes and found nothing wrong with it, so drove off without bothering to change the bulb in theirs (it’s mandatory to carry spare bulbs in Poland)).

Yes.
I do it almost the same way I tell other drivers that are overtaking invisible cars on the motorway that there aren’t actually any invisible cars in lane one, but instead of flashing my lights I turn them on and off.
I told a woman the other day to turn her main beam off because she was blinding everyone.
Also told another driver, co-coincidently also a woman that her brake lights were stuck on. She’s like ‘oh thanks how do I fix that?’ I said have you changed the stop/tail bulb recently? She said yeah. I said I know, fit the right one next time
I’ve been driving to work and back in a Yaris with the nearside headlight out for the last week or so and I’m sick of people telling me I’ve got a light out. I know, you don’t need to tell me.
Back in my own car tonight so the problem has been resolved.
My OH has a Clio which blew the n/s headlight a few days ago. I pulled the bulb out but getting the new one in involved a trip to Halfords fitters, Kwik fit, and then the Renault dealer who take the bumper off to do it. Changing bulbs is no longer the easier job I thought it was

I followed a container wagon round the M25 not long back. He had lights on his unit, but none on his trailer. When i managed to get level with him, which took a while, i honked and made some kind of pointy at trailer gestures, thinking i was doing him a favour. (i’m sure Mr vosa would have been happy) All i got was a blank stare as he pulled away.
Ah well, i tried.
Wish i had a £ for every car / truck i see on my night trunk, with no rear lights on at all!! Followed a tranist through M25 roadworks last night, no rear lights but all headlights working, only to be followed on M4 by a Vectra with the same, no rear lights but headlights on, dont cars have bulb warning lights on dash!!! Also bulk tipper few weeks back no trailer lights at all at 0200 on M25, wheres the police these days on the M/ways??
I’ve done the opposite and told drivers when parked up engine off that they’ve left their lights on.
Bizarrely, on two occasions the driver has seemingly got the hump and replied with “yeah…, and?”
Swiftly followed with a “balls to yer then”.
Some people don’t put lights on at all and don’t realise they haven’t got them on because their dashboard is always lit up, also with the automatic headlights in cars, people see no need to overide their automatic system in heavy rain or fog because they are ‘automatic’, which is wrong. I have pointed out in the past that the reason they also have an ‘off’ and ‘on’ switch is that sometimes it may be that you need to do it yourself in the rain and fog as you as a human are better than a sensor and may need to make a decision, shock, horror.

If they use front lights only, it may be that they use daylights instead of proper lights. I doubt if there is separate warning light for them…

This is a big problem in North America. A car will over take on the interstate when its dark and have full proper dipped beam headlights on the front…yet as they drive on by, they have no lights on at the back at all. If they are going to bother going to the effort of having daylight running lights, why not make the rear lights come on as well to avoid the several dozen, or sometimes hundreds of cars I see each day/night doing that.

In the “olden days”, leaving the sidelights on when parked in a lay by/services/truckstop was a sign of “ime not parked up here for the night” or “dont box me in”

I once warned a driver about him not having his wipers on, he told me that it aint raining so I dont need them on, I asked him why he had his fog lights on as it wasnt foggy, he just mumbled something like “women… fingers… up… fanny… cos… cool… fog… lights…”
