Do the Lotto to pack up working

The only reason i do the lottery is in the hope i can pack in driving once and for all.

Unfortunately this is going to be a bit harder as from the Autumn a single line is going up to £2 :frowning:

I think this increase will backfire on them

Their greed backfired with me long ago, A tenner for three numbers ,a joke for four and a bigger joke for five, I think it must have backfired for loads of people when you look at the jack pots .on offer

Stupid decision. People will just buy Euromillions now. For 3 or 4 numbers the prize money will rise, but for 5 balls or 5 balls plus the bonus prize money will fall. The end of lotto !

Doesn’t the Irish one payout £400 odd quid for 3 numbers??

the more you do the lotto the longer you will have to work
have you ever heard of a skint bookie
ever seen a bloke pump all his money into a bandit
mugs game gambling, always was, always will be :bulb:

Poor mans tax…

Idiot tax…

Just heard something along the lines of a guaranteed £20k for 5 numbers, if I heard correctly. 3 number prize to increase to £25.

They should have let Richard Branson run it last time it was up for tender.
None profit, bigger prizes. He knows how to do things right.

^^^^^^ what he said
Branson should have got it BUT ,
If he had got it he was running it as a charity and the gov doesn’t make as much taxation of a charity as it does a biz !!!

Betting shop “49’s” are more similar to the regular lotto, because they have the same number of balls in the pot, and you’re attempting to perhaps get 3 numbers right from 6 balls drawn.

The odds are 600-1 for the “pick three” I believe, which ■■■■■■ all over camelot’s tenner doesn’t it?

It’s worth pointing out however, that a single 6 number line effectively contains a 20x3 number perms, meaning if you staked a six number selection “perm”, you’d be paying £20 per 6 rather than £1 for 3. It’s the same permutation number as “win trebles in six selections” on Heinz type slips.

That is still a net return three times that of Camelot though, so go figure!

I gave up camelot a while back, but I do the Euro one because it’s easier to get a return on - albeit not even a tenner most of the time.
I’ve had a couple of wins on Euromillions that would pay for a sit down meal out in the last 2 years, but in nearly 2 decades of doing the camelot one, I think I got 4 numbers up twice, and bugger all higher in all that time. :imp:

I still have a regular 5p ew trebles from ten selections horse racing perm each week as well. Get a return for 3 places and upwards, a big return for 3 winners or six places upwards. Total cost £12.00. All prices must be at least double digits, eg. 16-1,12-1,33-1 but no favourites if you get the picture…

Unlike doing the camelot lottery, I’ve had 4 returns of over a grand, plus about a dozen returns in the hundreds since I did my first one on the Mr Frisk grand national, 1990 I believe. I’ve not had a good return since March 2010 however, so I’m currently in my longest session “without a biggy” as it were.
What the hell though - we’re talking about a layout of around £600 a year here, which is easily affordable even to a low-field earner like me. :grimacing:

If ever you did win big, I suggest you definatey pack up work, hear about the guy in Suffolk, won R148m and tried to keep his litte music store open :unamused: had 20 people a day in begging then threatening him.
I see in the paper he had a closing down sale… 10% off :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve made a few quid out of the lottery.

I’ve never done it and I’m quids in.

Statistically, you have more chance of throwing a quid down the bog and finding it again. I did a bit of research…

The lottery win is about 14m - 1

By the way…if you are buying a ticket for the lottery on Sat night…wait until Fri or Sat. If you buy one on the Sun, Mon,Tue,Weds,Thurs the week before, you are statistically far more likely to die before the Saturday night draw…

It’s a mug’s game. :grimacing:

Hundreds of people have won large sums of money and while it’s true that the odds are small, the benefit which would come from winning a jackpot far outweighs the disappointment of losing £1, or £2. Therefore it’s not entirely illogical to do it.

80m tickets a week sold…so plenty of folk spend more than a couple of quid on it I reckon.

Millions and millions and millions of tickets have been sold and just over 3000 people have become millionaires since 1994…and most haven’t been as lucky as the above mentioned sister-in-law. Obviously if you win - magic. But for every winner there are plenty of losers:

Since it started just over 3,000 have become millionaires but…

Since it started they have sold approx 79,040,000,000 (that’s 79 billion forty million tickets…)

So out of the total, 79,039,997,000 (79 billion, thirty nine million, nine hundred and ninety seven thousand) were disappointed, non jackpot winners a quid down…

Still more chance of dying before the next draw… :grimacing: :grimacing:
