That’s awful for that family what was the judge ever thinking he should have been put away for much longer.
Unfortunately there is a set tariff for each offence which the judge has to sentence under. Now if each carried a maximum sentence of say 12 months on sentencing these would run concurrent to each other, in other words the total would still be 12 months.
Now for pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity you automatically get half the sentence knocked off, which is what I expect happened here. You might not agree with the system but that is what we have.
Now there could be an appeal by the cps to the high court if they think the sentence was too short but that would depend on seveal things I.e the judge not following guide lines ect and if the sentence was given after a full trial were a not guilty plea was entered are 2.
I do feel very sorry for the family and their loss, as it seems that justice has not been served. But having not been there and heard evidence we only can see what is written in a paper, and as we all know they can write nearly what they like, putting in some facts but omitting other just because it wouldn’t make sensational reading
Quicker he gets out the quicker he can be got at
Its always sad to read of cases like this, and especially when the sentence does not fit the crime, ie; someone has taken someone elses life, and to me it doesnt matter how, where, why, its a life, if a person is responsible for causing someone to die, then i`m afraid that person should be charged with manslaughter, or murder. That driver can continue with his life after 3 months, that family will carry their loss forever. Our justice system is totally wrong, and needs a complete overhaul, seems the victims are always the ones who lose out.
Another example, is of a person who damages a car ( for eg ) he gets caught, goes for sentence, and gets a fine, NO retribution for the car owner, in a case like that, he should get the fine, and have to pay for the damage to the car as well, as they say : hit them where it hurts, and sad for them if theyre on benefits, take it out of their money, or send in the bailiffs.
R.I.P. little angel.
This could of gone the other way.
Un marked police tractor unit catches him texting and some on here would be screaming harrassment!
FFS, useing the phone whilst driving can, and does kill.
