If I’m being overtaken in an elephant race scenario I always back off to let the truck past unless I’m on or coming up to a hill. I’d rather have him safely ahead and out of the way, rather than blocking me in to lane one should a slower vehicle appear infront of me in my lane etc. Plus its just good manners, like flashing a truck in etc. Not necesary but polite.
My absolute pet hate is moving over to lane two to let a truck out in to lane one from a slip road, only for him to speed up and match my speed exactly, keeping me out in lane two looking like a complete canute.
Milk Man:
It seems like a regular occurrence for me, backing off for lorry drivers that don’t want to be stuck behind a slow wagon, I just let them get on with it and try to keep as far away from these crap drivers as possible.
If I was nisa I would have just backed off, its not worth it.
Sam Millar:
There’s a roundabout, and off the roundabout there’s two lanes on which you can enter the dual carriageway, lorry B had taken to the right line at the very beginning of the dual carriageway, it then took a further, full 1.9 miles exactly for him to get ALONGSIDE the Nisa lorry, I thought, surely this fella is going to realise that he isn’t going to get in in time for the next roundabout and swallow his pride and slot back in but no, and by this time there were lots of cars getting impatient understandably, Nisa driver not backing off to let Lorry B in and Lorry B not backing off to slot back in for the r/about.
So, both lorry’s try to enter the roundabout at the same time, Nisa on the outside and Lorry B on the inside obviously and I’m already thinking one of them has to back off or there’s going to be an accident here, but no, both try to enter the roundabout at the same time, Nisa is forced to take to the kerb and nearly topples the trailer and lorry b ends up kerbing the trailer going round the roundabout and the same nearly happens to him, and thats the trailer nearly toppling over into the Nisa artic as it was a very heavy walking floor.
They sound like a pair of ccok’s but have you ever thought about commentating on the horses
Reminds me of one morning going down the a5 to work behind two TNT artics. Lead one was a company vehicle and second an Irish subbie. Sat at 40 just passed the rugby/Lutterworth roundabout and thought I would wait for the stretch of dual by Europark to overtake. I was sat suitably far back and out to the right so the rear vehicle could see me in his mirrors, indicated, pulled out and accelerated to overtake and the Irish motor flicked his indicator once and pulled out forcing me to brake. Then the numpty in the lead vehicle sped up to the limiter and the Irish one used the whole stretch of dual to overtake. Pair of trumpets.
If you zoom out the google map you’ll see 2 USAF C5 Galaxys on the runway at Prestwick, could the jet blast have been a contributing factor in this? Jet fumes are known to cause dizziness, stupidity etc…
