Thank you to all the charities and religious organisations for helping stranded drivers over the Xmas period.
Its really disgusting and shameful that the government didn’t do this.

I agree that the Government could have been better prepared but at the end of the day it is President Macron who is disgusting and shameful and every eastern European driver I work with says the same.
What’s more disgraceful is that the uk government hasn’t reciprocated and insisted that anyone travelling to the uk provide prove that they have a negative C-19 within 48hrs of inbound travel, instead they pussyfooted and decided that anyone arriving self isolates, no wonder we have the imported South Africa strain of the virus
I guess it’s part of the governments plan on immigration , there’s at a guess 15,000 lorry drivers + families , folks watching from abroad who will now think twice about comming here after seeing how we treat foreigners
I mean when finally hot food was provided it looked from pics as if it was a burger van !!!
Lets blame the Government for not having the foresight that Macron was going to close the border without notice
Lets blame the Government for me not getting what I wanted for Xmas or for me not winning the Lottery
Lets blame the Government for winning the Election and denying Steptoe Corbyn the opportunity to ruin the country totally.
Lets blame the Government for everything that goes wrong why not, just about everything else seems to be the Governments fault according to many

YAWN
The only thing they should have done is said to France/EU…
If you wish us to look after the drivers who are stranded due to your actions,
We will provide all facilities ASAP for this price £…
We await your response.
Why were they not allowed to cross and quarantine in a lorry park over there with facilities available until they met the requirements of a negative test? Because it was a political stunt and France didnt have the ability to deal with it, so they pulled a fast one stranding them this side of the crossing stating (NOT OUR PROBLEM) a great way to treat your citizens. And the facilities are not there and available on either side of the channel…It was their chance to attempt to ridicule to UK because we’ve upset their little club.
I bet your a labour voter.
Its only a short crossing, they could have loaded one of the empty ferries up with provisions just as fast as our government could have got what was needed to them…provisions and portaloos and had it over here in a short time to be distributed by our authorities which were having to police the port because of their poor behaviour…France didn’t do that did they? are they being dug out for it? NO
Edited because i want to be abit more of a keyboard warrior…(Joking)
I’m not even a supported of this goverment or any political party for that matter but i cant stand people moaning for moaning sakes and finger pointing.
I don’t imagine you jumped in the car to help your fellow human beings…SHAME ON YOU…
See its not nice when someone points the finger at you when its not your responsibility is it…
The View From Poland; “Imprisoned at the border”
Greatest traffic jam in England’s history
Problems in Dover were building up since at least mid-December. Britons, afraid of Brexit, were stockpiling everything possible, so a week before Christmas there was a long queue of trucks heading back to the continent awaiting crossing. When the discovery of a new, dangerous strain of COVID-19 caused the closure of Port of Dover and the Eurotunnel, which serve, on average, 7 or more trucks per minute, in few hours the situation became dramatic.

Boris fanboys making an appearance already I see. I miss the days when we had a voting public that held politicians to account, instead of licking their arse thinking he’s their buddy

Ah yes, because it’s all going so swimmingly
Already been done to death in another thread. If you want to start thinly disguised political crap, go to Twitter and search hashtag #FBPE to find plenty of similar boring arguments.

This here is an emergency parking compound near Somosierra, north of Madrid. It is one of many built in case there’s, like, heavy snowfall or whatever. Not really likely, but not totally unlikely either. So when something happens and they must shut down the route, everything is taken care of.
This being a route you can easily avoid, I think you have like 3-400 miles on either side of the Somosierra available as a detour
But you know, if the most important link over La Manche breaks down two weeks before a customs border will be in place, in addition to the usual x-mas rush, breaks down for whatever reason, political or not, like it pretty often does, you had f all resources to deal with it, again, truly third world style.
Who is to blame but the government?

‘Thinly disguised’? Posts title is ‘Disgraceful Government’, not sure what counts as a disguise in your world but in mine it isn’t that…

Blew a snot bubble at this
Spot on.
I would like to know what some of the old ME hands would say to being forced to stay in place awaiting for clearance, some of them saying 2weeks wasn’t uncommon. I know different times and things have changed… Yes our government had 2+ years to get Manston ready since they first trailed Operation Brock, they knew it would happen, just when they didn’t, Facilities should have been on site ready to open, when it did, it’s pish-poor planning, but it’s what all governments do best.
Quite apart from the brexit situation, this should have been treated as a purely humanitarian crisis. It is an absolute disgrace that all drivers at Manston or on the M20 were treated in such an inhuman fashion. Can you imagine the outcry had it been live cattle?Because they are truck drivers they are automatically judged as sub human. How many portaloos for 3 or 4000 drivers?Let’s imagine what they were like.Already the affair is drifting out of the collective mind of the msm.Disgraceful.

BIG Difference - UK Authorities prohibited the drivers at Manston cooking
If M/E Drivers had been prohibited from cooking & the socialising that went with it there would have been big, big protests & a Multi-National protest too.
At Tehran customs we put up with one water tap between 000s & an open toilet that stretched the length of the parking area & increasing in width by a couple of metres a day - some hardy souls ventured through the month/years of putrifying body waste to scavenge parts from the abandoned units in order to get home.
YET it was a happy place, different nationalities set up there own mini encampments with old pallets, tyres, tilt boards communal cooking & welcoming visitors from all the other nationalities. If they tried the restrictions the UK imposed at Manston there would have been Hell Up !!
The Torys have been murdering UK citizens with austerity for 10years
Disgraceful is a huge understatement
