Discrimination

A good friend of mine is very interested in local history and last night there was a lecturer from the former Ashby Grammar School giving a talk at the local church hall. He went down there and met the speaker who he already knew and proceeded to settle down in the hall. A pompous old biddy of about 80 years of age asked him to leave as it was a ladies only evening. Nothing was advertised with that information and it was just on the notice board about the history of the area from the 17th century

He came back quite angry that he had been discriminated against, especially after working in a male dominated career and having to accept women into their boardroom meetings and seminars.

It seems quite acceptable to be a racist if you are black, or sexist if you are female.

Apparently it was a very good talk with some interesting facts about my adopted village and its scandals. We did have 2 prime ministers and a famous poet with a club foot making history at the time.
