Dirty Trick

Saw Spanish truck parked up early this morning with curtains still drawn. Some rotten !!!s have nicked his trailer lights.

Or perhaps it’s just standard in that part of the world. . . Like indicators on Audi and BMWs

Scania’s are…

Prone to having their headlights nicked.

Bedford TKs used to be prone to having their gearboxes nicked.

Wouldn’t you like to catch the thieving SCUM. :imp: :imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

It has been happening for decades.
Five of us from Hercock Continental running together to Italy one Wednesday morning in 1991, we parked at the end of our first driving shift at Dijon. We all woke up Thursday morning to find various bits gone during the night. One set of Wiperarms from one vehicle, one set of nearside steps from another, both rear light clusters from another. Battery cover from the fourth and I got away with drivers mirror arm plus mirrors.

And this was loooong before the EE community were out and about thieving, we blamed other sources.

Hello all by the way, I am enjoying retirement immensely  (and I dont miss a thing about the job whatsoever!)

True enough, been happening since forever.
Bottom line - it’s mostly lorry drivers and/or owners that steal lorry parts, or at least, buy from those who do the nicking.

Theve done a thorough job. As looks like took all the wiring loom.as well

I’ve had a set of wipers nicked off a vanhool coach at Thurrock services years ago

That was mainly done by the Caravan club members, was always the 5 speed, 10 bolts iirc and out.

I recall giving mechanical advice to a GB driver in Tilly’s,El Puig regarding sorting an air leak out on a Daf.He left.30 mins later another driver finished his coffee and left to find that the thieving git had stolen a four way valve off (not cheap) off his truck.
This was not long after all the (zb)wits who’d screwed up Italy started venturing down to Spain on T forms.

Running one hit Romes?
Burning a mix of heating oil and paraffin?
Mickey permits?
Two trucks both with same reg number?
3 week’s work for 2 week’s money?
.
Ah the “good ole days”!
[emoji3]

The burning question was, did the driver notice them on his walk around check, or when they stopped later in the day to see why the indicator tell tail was not working

Its mostly fellow drivers who steal parts from other trucks. Instead of buying they just smash and grab. Even diesel they nick it. I hate it when that happens

who can blame them when they’re paid a pittance and a lot of companies deduct damage and excess fuel use from wages.

Lost a pair of mirror glasses three or four years back at Hilton Park, odd thing was I was passed by a Romanian in the morning with a smashed mirror glass, five ours later pulled into Hilton Park and there he was, popped in for a cup of tea, refill for the final leg of the day, fifteen minutes later came out, Romanian had gone, so had the mirror glasses.

Got it in one,Franglais.

FIVE OF YOU■■? :open_mouth: :unamused:
And none of you heard a thing?? :open_mouth:

Those were the days, when you nighted out in France and just kept on Cognac after Cognac after etc. etc. etc
At least they didn’t touch the loads :unamused: :unamused:
Got to. Ask, how did you all get home?
Did you morph 5 into 3 :unamused:

We went to the Scania dealership near Dijon and let them sort it out., the funniest thing was watching Johnny Whitbread ‘The Mayor of Barking’ fall out of the cab as his steps were missing!. And no, none of us heard a thing!
