malcolmj DO you mean MURCIA mate

glad you spotted my mistake id never find my way there

HOW ABOUT THIS; Dunkurque,lille,mons,namur,luxemburg
metz,dijon,marcon,lyon orange,montpellier,ceret,border,
barcelona,tarragona,valinca, alicanta,MURCIA

THIS IS ONLY ROUGH;USE via michelien as route finder
it shows the radar sites as well, going by LUX is cheap fuel
THAN IN FRANCE;REMEMBER EURO-VINGETTE for BELGIUM &
LUXEMBURG;

or you can go Dunkurque- LILLE ;REIMS; TROYES;
LANGRES;DIJON;;AND THEN AS FROM MARCON;SHOWN ABOVE;

THE TRIP VIA lux IS WORTH IT FOR the cheap fuel, all depends on who
has the say in the route,

1st way thro lux sounds good ,A4is it still being repaired not been that way foe 18months? or N4 from Namur ?

hi malcolmj where in murcia r u going

MERCIA
is the area in the centre of England
thats why Mercian cycles are / were in Derby
and Mercia FM is in Cov

I’ve just got home from a quick trip to Swiss.

The road rebuilding of the A4 is now completed.
A very nice bit of tarmac it is, for now.

Do you just look at a route finder, Pete?? Amazingly, this question has been asked before and this route discussion about the best way to Spain has been done before. (All Malcolm had to do was search) Whilst the route you always advocate has the advantage of cheap fuel, surely the first way you always state is tolled THE WHOLE LENGTH so that would offset the cheap fuel?

Have you ever done this trip, Pete?? Cos I got my anorak on and just checked your way against my way and mine is 200 kms shorter and possibly up to €150 cheaper !!

@ THE BEAR yes you are right about your route being shorter
but as for cheaper, i am awaitng a answer from a friend who
goes via LUX TO TARRAGONNA every week,as regards the cost
of the road charges, yes you are right i have not been to spain via
calais as i live and work from Germany, and my boss sends the
wagons via LUX yes because of the cheap fuel which when you add the price difference and the recovered VAT does make a very large sum of money
when you fill up over 1000 liters,Due to the way we operate at my working place the firm will rather save money with the fuel as the day to day running costs he can recover when his accountants do the yearly tax return,
we rarely have to rush as the load is all ways ADR/HAZ and therefore
can not go faster than legaly allowed as our firm will not pay fines.
i do use a routefinder it is just that when i think of the route
i automaticly think how can i save money because if the firm makes a large
profit then they share some of it out amongst the workforce,
WHAT ARE THE CHARGES THAT YOU PAY WHEN GOING FROM DUNKQUE–Tarragona, as this is the route that MALCOMj said he HAD to USE;;

WHEN i have the costs of of the route i will post them here,

I looked at Dunkerque, Calais, Rouen, Le Mans, Poitiers, Angouleme, Bordeaux, Irun, Sunbilla, Pamplona, Tudela, Ricla, Daroca, Valencia, Alicante down to Murcia. Malcolm did say Murcia and not Tarragona. Tarragona would be a different route entirely off the top of my head. Maybe Le Mans, Limoges, Toulouse, Narbonne etc which IS expensive.
I know going the first way, it is €60 from LeMans to Poitiers. Then €18 down by the border at Irun. €2.35 from Pamplona to Tudela. then €19 from Valencia to Alicante. The last two can be avoided by using nationals but they are very slow roads.

Coming from Germany makes sense to go through Lux though, Pete. But don’t forget to get to Lux from Calais is more than half a card for us in which time you could be well on the way going my way.

Bear, when he comes down the ricla road,when hes gets to aluminia is it better to turn right head down to cataluda i think thats it then head south so he does not have to go all the way over to valencia then down, or at teulada head for sodiva i think thats what its called my brain gone.Then head down but as you know all roads go to albacete.

@ The Bear have been told the following costs from LUX–CERET (F)
are 140-160€ this is with the 8€euro-vingette as well,
LUX–LYON is 75.70€ on its own.
THE toll in Spain isabout 45 -55€
Also the distance from Calais–lux is 385km amd from
DUNKERQUE::LUX is325–330km , the VAT for LUX
is 17.5% and fuel was 0.87cents last month, Thats why
many still go this way down to spain when doing the bottom
half of the country,and also when THEY HAVE TO GO VIA
CALAIS;DUNKERQUE;OSTENDE; ZEEBRUGGE; AS NOT
every firm uses the ports which are situated in the
south west,and west part of the UK.;

As i have said before it is a case of who is in charge
and therefore dictateing the way the vehicle is carried
across the channel and which route is allowed to be used,
