Direction Advice Please

Which is the easiest,quickest route from Cornwall to Wellingborough please.
Would it be M5,M42,M6 and come off at J15.
Or M5,M4,exit at Newbury and follow A34.

Please bare in mind that we are talking about a car rather than lorry.
The other half is going to visit friends.

Off the top of my head, I would go Bristol Swindon Oxford Northampton.

M5,M4 A34 M40,A43 to northampton then south to the 1st exit on the M1,then around the A45 and job done

I would have gone M4 then headed north myself.
The other half went onto an AA routefinder site or something,which advised the M42,M6 route.
