Just wondering what to do for the best.Been out of work for several months now but have a good chance of a start with a respectable outfit in the new year,Trouble is my digi card isn’t the healthiest in terms of infringments and even has offences going back 10 months earlier. The infringments aren’t especially serious just minute short on daily rest…etc, type of thing but obviously it could damage my chances of being retained when they take their first download. The problem is essentially my failure to make a smooth transition from 15 years of old style tachos to this new cursed digi way of doing things but the new dynamic seems to be zero- tolerance as I found to my cost when working recently for a giant concern in Sohamski.
Question is, is it a good idea to order a new card being as my current one expires in 7 months; thus avoiding embarassing revelations for potential new employer? or am I being naive? The job involves European work and I obviously am a marked man for fines which could wipe me out money wise.Has anyone out there had a similar experience of this situation before?
IIRC it should only stay on your card for 28 ava days ( or your working days ) but can your new employer really download from a previous as I seem to remember that they cant due to not having access to there pc
But I will stand corrected
But if you have had it nearly 5 years then a new 1 will be in order soon

If you think there’s a serious likelihood that the card will cost you a job perhaps it’s time to lose it, having said that you have to remember that a new card will not help you to stick to the rules and it’s that which could eventually cost you the job

Although driver cards are designed to hold a minimum of 28 days worth of records the data will remain on the card until it’s over-written which is likely to be several months.
An employer can download and view all the data on the card regardless of who the work was done for including former employers.
Many thanks fellas.Seriously appreciate your help on this.I now have been informed theres a start for me on Jan 4th so am inclined to think a new digi-card is the answer to this issue although i realise the chances of it arriving on time would be tenuous at best.Does anyone have info about applying for a new one?..cost…arrival of card, etc.?
Maybe you could delay your start date if theres some howlers on the card although even if there is, the new firm should only be worried about what you are doing in their vehicles as that’s all they’re responsible for. bear in mind the Christmas post could put 2 weeks on the expected arrival. Even it hasn’t arrived by the date you are due to start I would just go in and hope for the best, when they are doing the infringement letters they should only generate reports from the day you started anyway so…

Not a cat in hells chance of it gettin’ back and if you order it due to ‘yours being lost / stolen’ then download yours, you’re still ■■■■■■.
Just carry on mate, as said, we’ve all made mistakes, most companies won’t give a ■■■■ about what you’ve done in the past unless you repeatedly ■■■■ up whilst working for them.
Somebody correct me but isn’t there a way your last employer can hide/lock the previous data to stop a rival having access to it. Vosa will still be able to read it, I guess. Anyone?

The operator can lock out the information from the tachograph head so that when another company takes over the vehicle the data for the previous operator can’t be read, I’m pretty certain there’s no way to stop anyone seeing all the data on the driver card.
I may be wrong (not for the 1st time LOL) … but i think you have to go to VOSA test station to COLLECT a new / relacement card ( take I.D ) - they don’t post them to your home address.
I seem to remember The Biker told me he had to go to Walton test station to get a relacement card when he changed address ■■
You can print of the relevant form online and post it. Although it did say I would have to collect it in person (somewhere) they did send a replacement to my address.
Mine was genuinely faulty, so wether they tested it or not I don’t know. Because of this mine was free but lost/stolen ones have to be paid for, but I would imagine would be a quicker turnaround time as obviously you are not having to send one to them. I

Just send your current one back, saying it’s faulty. Free of charge, hey presto…New card. Took 10 days for mine to come back. Got it today in fact1
not condoning this advice at all but if you place your card near a magnet or other credit cards the data will be lost and the card can be reported as faulty. after sending your card off ( get a receipt of postage, just in case ) your new card will be posted to your house address.

I’ve just scrolled through the tacho as I’m sat here bored. Mine still has information from 06/11/09 on it! That’s what happens with large amounts of driving and only moderate stop start stuff I guess.
Hiya …just go with the job.if your new boss say,s you,ve been a bad lad tell him you
need to change and he,s to sort you out.If you,ve downloaded you,r card at the
last firm. hav,nt all you,r infrigement gone to there register■■?
I,ve only used my card at one company. i thought when you downloaded at one company
that was it as far as employers went. it was only VOSA that could dig deeper.
