Dilema

Yep but a nice 1 have been offered 2 jobs this week

Phoned a comp last week & sent CV over then on mon phoned another comp & again sent CV over

Tuesday mor while getting ready phone rings was the comp I phoned on mon saying they had 2 weeks work starting next mon but would I go in for day agreed on thurs within the hr second comp phoned would I go in for induction & assessment

So on wed go it to see TM meet of course the usual coffee 1st then sat down had a chat about things as they do some ah hock work but also other anything up to 18t going all over UK as well as EU some night out not a prob was up to me to decide was then told the pay which is about right for up here
Then told pay structure not to happy with but could work as it is biased on a 4 week you are paid x hrs over the 4 weeks but if on week 1 you only get paid for hr worked same for week 2 but then on the 4th all hr are made up then you start again
Went out for a quick drive in 1 of there 7.5 t all are digi tacho have np with
You could be driving any of the vehicles in the fleet so would have to rely on the previous person to leave it clean
At presant can only give me some ah hock work with the view to permanent later in year this due to it being a quiet time of the year

Went in on thur was a 6.30am start arrived early introduced to 1 of the office bods ( he knew I was coming in ) most important thing 1st was coffee waited for the driver to come in then off we go to Glasgow then to Edinburgh down to Peebles back across to Dumfries then back to dept
When arrived back as I was starting to help unload the other driver went into office to hand paperwork in as he came back asked if I was in on fri not that I am aware of
Over to office to speak to TM he had presumed I was in as was in on thur so said I would come in not a prob he also said thee was more than 2 weeks work there after a few min it was agreed I would stay for as long as we both wanted or needed to
Although only driving a 7.5 money is decent own vehicle so can keep it clean know 1 driver has been there 26 years ( with a break of 6 weeks ) another member of staff retired earlier this year after 50 years there they have been in same place for over 100 years
The run is basically the same with a few variations in it it is up to me where /when I break they run totally legal payed weekly

Which 1 to take

Personally i would take the one that a) pays the most b) is the least stressful c) has the best possibility of on-going work d) nearest to commute or… e) the best possible combination of a,b,c and d. It also may be an idea to do some due diligence checks on the companies house website to see if the companies are indeed solvent, as a firm i had an interview lined up with as i soon discovered had taken out a C.V.A in April 2012,therefore to all intents and purposes bankrupt, this firm has been operating for decades, so do not fall for the established 100 years strap line, a lot of smaller firms (…and some big ones too i hasten to add) are sailing close to the wind nowadays.

Good luck.

Yep can understand what you are saying I do know that 1 of them does have a high turnover of drivers the other dosent also 1 supplies to the food chain the other has other customers & is more of a transport comp then the other

Faced something similar myself earlier in the week, was offered work on 18t rigids for at least a year on £11+p/h and then was offered artic work for temp duration unkown for about £8.45 per hour.

Take the artic as it’s what I want to do & get experience or take the money and run for hills? Take money and run for me, especially as the artics shifts are few and far between and very short notice given as to when they are.

Take what’s best for you at present, that’s all i can say.

1 the transport side is like a "second part " to this comp as have other main source they maunly transport there own product to said customer

How did it go Animal , did you get the job ?

who is emma? and what does she have to be dialed for! BOOM BOOM

Second one, pay scheme with the first one seems odd and companies that have a high turnover of staff have it for a reason!
