Digtial tacho card

just a quickie bit of advice, my card lives in the truck all week until Fridays when its download day, took it out yesterday to take to office, but got caught up helping a colleague, unload his truck… when i got to the office put card in reader and it shows a fault, look at card and the chips gone■■? cant find it in my pocket and its more then likely i damaged it whilst helping, trying to save a few pennies do you think i will get away with it by sending it in for an exchange?

Well it’s technically damaged so prob you’ll have to pay

Short answer, No. I thinks the rule states lost, stolen or damaged.

yeah think its gonna be easier to swallow the £19 fee then try to explain, was more thinking its malfunctioning as the chip as come out, no other damage to the card there are no signs that it got bent or anything and tbh there is no sign of any clue or similar that was holding it in, anyways cheque written and in post

You’ll have to pay £19.

What I would worry about is whether the chip is in the tacho you took it out of :unamused: It’s happened before!! New tacho anyone■■?

Dumb question, IF the chip was still in place & not dislodged, could you tell by sticking the USB stick in and downloading the head??
The logic behind the idea is that the download could show last user data/time up to the time of the download
