Is there any point to reading our Digital Tacho card on our Laptops/PC.
Anyone know if there is any software available (preferrably FREE) to read our digital tacho cards on a built in Smartcard Reader.
I have a digital tacho card but have not used it yet so am unsure as to whether there is any point.

It depends what you mean by “any point”. Legally, I think you have to do it and store the data.
I had this problem when I got my new truck a couple of months ago. Nobody seemed to be able to help unless you wanted to sign up to some fancy expensive analysis service. However, I did eventually find some software (unfortunately not free) that will download and store the data and will let you print off a summary. The software is called ‘Downloader Solo’ - I got it from a company called Smartcard Focus (Google them). You can buy it off their web site and it does exactly what it says on the tin - very easy to use. I can’t remember the price but it was less than £100 (and they included a card reader, so it may be cheaper without).
