As Rog says could be any of the 3 or even a a b c tick test
feeling a little like a fish out of water, I have the opportunity of some decent jobs on agency & 2 private firms I spoke to in person have said they would give me a shot, I am a newbie & never been shown nothing on a tacho in person, I don’t even know the basics,
I think I have the newbie panics!!!
I have downloaded the simulator & been practicing but still feel lost,
I’m one of those type of people that when it comes to learning bugger all makes sence on paper or laptop, but if shown how to do something in person I usually pick things up pretty fast
I feel I’m panicking as I know folk are waiting for me to accept or decline job offers of decent length contracts
I am “bricking” it, I know I can do the jobs themselves/drive/manoeuvre/navigate & feel ok=ish about drivers hours
Christ i’m stressing people…should I go ask a driver on his break tomorrow for a quick how to on these things?

I understand the panic. What I dont understand is why you haven’t booked yourself onto a tacho cpc course. Surely that’s the obvious, and easy, thing to do?

I definitely would do it pete its just when one is available, i’d be willing to travel aswell so i’m clued up & feel confident, personally this is what should be done as initial drivers CPC instead of the numbskull rubbish initial drivers CPC it would be more beneficial i’d have thought
if any trainers have got a course going this week post up where you are/cost
i’ll be skint in two weeks as i’m leaving my current expoloiter
I know this is basic but as this will potentially the 1st time I use my card what would I put in for my the time of my last shift in manual entry’s■■?

I sympathise with the OP. Give me a analogue tacho any day of the week, so much easier. I thought the digi tacho’s were meant to be a step to making things more simple!
It wouldn’t be so bad if they were all the same. I’m pretty computer literate but iv no idea how established truck drivers managed to get to grips with the change over from analogue. Easy enough with the basic insert and away you go method but you practically need a degree in computing to do a manual set up on a old Stonebridge.

been out hours/recording equipment course booked, spoke to a few drivers but didn’t really get any advice/help just got told they are automatic…
yeah thanks-but that’s what people are like today so hey ho, that attitude wont get any favours from me if asked for help n the job!
treat fellow drivers old or newbies like me as brothers or sisters to help us all unite, anyway enough of my ranting

cheers lusk for the link of the simulator, I have told the agency i’ll pop by to do the test after I have done my cpc drivers hours/tacho day training so I’m a little more clued up! they were obviously encouraged by that-spose it shows initiative in a way.
should be ok with the test I think/I hope!
I’m fine doing things in so called “real life” practice but if there is even a whiff of a test type situation I just fluster & ■■■ up! & go blank in my mind
I’ve booked 3 days cpc (skint) so should help clue me up & the getting work situation also-I’m 99% confident i’ll get work I’ve had lots of calls day & night but I’ve turned it down due to wanting to get cpc & some other training I’m doing/revising done & dusted 1st
cross the T’s n dot the I’s so to speak before I jump in the fire of driving lorrys daily-really pretty excited now I must admit
tomorrow (sunday) is gonna be spent playing w

is there a test at the end of CPC training days? a tickbox one or similar to show you have understanding of the subject? or is it just done on attendance that you have covered the subjects in the course?

There may be plenty of offers now but that doesn’t mean there will be in the new year, this is the busiest time of year so make the most of it.
Do yourself a favour and forget DCPC training where you’re not guaranteed to be any wiser than you are now and get out earning money while you can.
There are other agencies apart from Best Connection and most won’t want you to do a digital tachograph test.
Just do it.
Where are you based ?
Have you tried looking at instruction videos on YouTube? Sometimes it’s easier to see a demo instead of trying to relate to written sheets of paper.
