Digicard and washing machine

Just been out to get the washing in from the dryer and found my driver card in there , so its had a wash and a dry so will it still work ? Has anyone else done this and did it affect their card ? If it doesn’t work what do I do tomorrow ? I’m a bit worried so keep the mick-takes and funnies for later on after some sensible answers .

Get it totally dry first, use a hair dryer or stick it on a heat source that wont melt it.
You wont know till you use if its dead or not.

Since it needs a power source to make it function you might get away with it

If it doesn’t work do a print out before and after the shift and fill in the back of them and sign them. Carry them with you for 28 days and then hand them to the vehicle operator. You need to report your card as faulty to the DVLA using the same form you used to apply for it in the first place within (I think) 10 days and they’ll send a replacement to the DVLA local office or VOSA testing station of your choice and you can go there with the broken one and do a swap.

I would just let it dry naturally, Im sure it will work if the chip is still in place and it hasnt got too hot. Mine was unused in my wallet for 8 months and it got more abuse then a Zanussi could give it in an hour.

If it doesnt work, take a printout and use the back of the sheet to record your day, no cheating because the truck will still be watching what you do. I think you have 15 days grace once you have applied for a new one to use the printouts, dont forget to do another printout at the end of the shift. You must also sign both copies

If the driver card is damaged, lost, stolen or malfunctions, drivers must apply for a replacement within 7 days and have
evidence of doing so and can only continue to drive without a card for a period of 15 days. Under special circumstances this
may be longer but the circumstances would have to be such that an extension was deemed to be appropriate.

A replacement card costs 19 quid but a malfunction should be free.

I sent the broken card to them and they sent a replacement to me at home■■?

One HOT POINT to remember is that you can only drive without a card if you have had one issued, and you must carry it with you all HOOVER

LENOR the transport desk tomorrow and mention it to the traffic manager. That should keep you SQUEAKY CLEAN

Anyway, i had a tiny scratch on mine and it stopped working very fragile i find, had to send it back to dvla, with the form and broken tacho, and of course with 18quid, and they sent it back to be within 10days

I stand corrected, just checked and you are right. I was confusing it with the procedure if you lost your card.

I’m FAIRY certain that if your BOLD and SURF the net about your problem you may take COMFORT that this has happened before, my mate DAZ says just let it dry naturally and the problem will VANISH.
