digi taco help

anyone of a simulator on line to practice on having trouble with manual entry its the siemens 1.4 doing my head in hate the things

Go on youtube, there’s a fella called cruddybones does a good video about it.

I’m useless with manual entry’s but getting the hang of it after watching his stuff.

Manual entries can be a bit of a minefield unless you do them regularly and there’s a huge potential for disaster waiting. The thing to remember is that nothing gets done until you ā€œokā€ it, so if you’re unsure you can easily (with practice) undo your steps right up to the moment you press ok. A driver at our place has been banned from doing them because of repeated ā– ā– ā– ā–  ups, iirc the last time he did one it recorded that he’d worked non stop since 1976!

that’s the problem i’m semi retired so work odd days i’m ok with the first ones that came out fairly simple its the new 1.4 that are the problem just cant get my head around them grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I find the 1.4 version from Siemens easier than the early ones! The important thing is that with a 1.4 you really must do a manual entry everytime - whereas the early ones you could select NO to manual input and it wouldn’t cause a problem.

The main problem people seem to have with the 1.4 is during the manual input the first thing they have to select is the mode. After they have selected the mode (and remember we now have ?) it will jump to day, then jump to the hour, then the minute. At this point as soon as you press OK all the data you just entered jumps to the top line and the mode starts flashing again on the bottom line.

It’ll keep going through that routine until you reach the current time. Oh and don’t forget you enter times in local time (as long as the offset is set correctly).

People seem to miss this and think the thing is just going round in circles. Just watch the top line.

Remember once you start the input you can’t leave any gaps.

If there’s a particular problem let me know. I do have a simulator for the 1.4 which is really good but runs from a disc and cost Ā£150! There doesn’t seem to be any free ones.

I’m in the same boat, just a few days here & there when it takes my fancy

Used to just press No & go

the video bestbooties has linked is the one I’ve been watching and slowly I’m getting the hang of it,after watching it a fair few times.

Good luck.
