Digi Tacho noob question

Ok so today at dhl it took me three hours to be allocated my 7.5tonner, whenI got in, I didn’t know how to put that id had three hours poa so wrote it on the back that wasn’t sure how to enter it and didn’t want to mess it up, but then filled in the chart thing with 3hours poa and will that be enough to cover me■■? I will next time enter manually as I have an idea of how to do it.

Also after I stopped driving, I got asked to do some van driving, which I did [dont worry stayed well within hours] when I go to put card in tomorrow, will I have to manually enter the time I was on vans for as ‘otherwork’ my thoughts are if I do this, it won’t realise I’ve been driving vans and so not having to work to hours regs and will look like I didn’t take breaks etc when needed, or should I fill out on the back of today’s one the hours i did in the van explaining what I was driving■■?

Ta in advance

Jon

you said you have an idea of how to do a manual entry so i will skip the details. the easy answer is that the next time you put your card in the tacho it will ask you if you finished work at …whenever. you change to NO and you can then enter the manual entry using the up and down arrows to set the times and modes. then it will ask you to confirm it before asking you about your new shift. every time you put your card in it will ask you to confirm or change the end of the previous shift

And dont forget its an hour differant on the times you put in

As far as the breaks go it shouldn’t make any difference, breaks under the tacho rules are for separating periods of driving not other work. The van driving is other work, and should be recorded as such, so under the tacho rules there is no requirement to take a break for that period. Under the tacho rules you could go into work, drive under EU regs for 4 hours then drive a van for 4 hours and no break would be required. You would however require a break(s) for the WTD.

so when I’m back in the 7.5 tonner should I manually add the time that I worked on the vans for as other work for that day up until the shift ended??

I take it for days when I only do van work whilst also driving C1/C/C&E in the same week I can just log the hours I did other work ie the van work on the rear of a tacho roll and that is all I’d have to do for the van driving days?

Yes

That’ll work.

would also be prudent to put your breaks on the back as well for RTD/WTD
