For the next few weeks have taken some time out but will be helping a mate and basically about 2/3 days a week i move the truck anything from 1- 5 miles so maybe a odd day 6am move truck 1 mile go back in evening around 8pm and move truck a mile.
On digi tacho should i be recording all the rest inbetween and how should i do this , should i be doing manual entry on paper charts ?
Also during the day someone else may move the truck so i cant leave my card in it on rest , will this cause any probs for me as when i insert card back in the evening the mileage will have changed?
any help appreciated
Just do a manual entry when you re-insert your card for the return journey. It doesn’t matter if the truck has moved during the day
Legally the time spent travelling back from where you leave the vehicle should be manually recorded as other work, likewise, legally the time spent travelling to the vehicle when it’s not at the operators base should be manually recorded as other work.
As has been said when you insert your card for the return journey do a manual entry on the digital tachograph to record the travelling time as other work and the rest of the day as rest.
does the same apply if i dont drive for three or four days ■■
I know how to do one manual entry whether it be rest or other work but i not to sure how to do multiple manual entries as in 20 mins other work then 2 hours rest or similar

To do more than one manual entry is the same as doing one except that at the end of the first manual entry you continue with the next .
Whether you need to manually record the daily rest period or not will depend on the type of digital tachograph, if it’s a type 1 digital tachograph you don’t need to manually record daily rest periods, if it’s a type 2 digital tachograph you do need to record daily rest periods.
