Don’t think so, he’ll just have to wait his turn and use vehicles fitted with analogue tachographs while he’s waiting.

maybe corrected if I’m wrong however I’m sure it’s possible to use a manual entry for a maximum of 14 days while waiting for a card to be issued.

I don’t believe so, I think that’s just for if it’s gone faulty or are waiting for a replacement.

Don’t know about the 14 days, but you can drive a digi equipped vehicle and mark up the printouts, (take two to be sure). After all, if your card goes electronically sick, you don’t have to stop work.

The keeping of records by printouts may only be done if the card already issued to the driver has been lost, stolen malfunctions or has been damaged.

Printouts are NOT an acceptable method of keeping records if the driver has not had a card issued to them. They cannot be used for record keeping whilst awaiting the delivery of the first driver card.

This assumes that the use of the vehicle falls under the EU drivers hours Regulation and not under GB Domestic rules.

Knew I’d be corrected… Wherever geebee45 copied and pasted that from. I didn’t have time to look it up was sat in a que waiting to get unloaded…lol

My first card only took about 3 days to arrive but I already had a photocard licence.

Did you know the vehicle will not start without a digital card, if it does, it then goes into limp mode and the hazard lights will not turn off

Ah MMTM gold!)

I know of someone who did actually carry on driving after his digi card expired. He just didn’t use it. It took a while for management to catch up but when they did, well, he’s not driving right now and they’ve got a driver transferred from another contract to cover his work!!!
