Digi tacho advice

Hi all I’ve recently been given the position as class 1 driver after leaving the forces I’ve just got my digi tacho card and just wondering is ther an idiots guide on how to use them? And also wether any of you fine people brought a card reader and wether I need one at home to keep records etc
