nowt wrong with 1 min driving , could have moved vehicle to check area of tread at bottom, followed by further checks in the other 33 mins
or just tell truth

Nothing, why on earth would you need to write anything?
I often just have a couple of minutes other work, then move the unit and couple to the trailer and then some more other work while I check both unit and trailer.

Nothing, why keep printouts when they’re not needed.
I would have a word with the warehouse staff and tell them that the vehicle should not be moved without your knowledge though
Don’t leave the keys in the vehicle, it is as simple as that. It doesn’t have to be a set 15 mins check, as if it is an artic you have to have the trailer hooked up to check the bits on there as well. As long as you do not commence driving less than 15 mins after you insert your card then you have complied with rules.

Where does it say that in the rules then? You can start driving after less than 15 minutes and still comply with the rules.
I started driving this morning after 6 minutes other work and haven’t broken any rules. Daily checks didn’t take long as it was only 9 hours after I stopped driving it and as I had slept in it it hadn’t moved an inch. A lot of the things on the check sheet didn’t need checking as they were done yesterday and won’t have changed. Test discs, plating certificates, damage and so on.
Cheers guys for all your replies.so some more ■■■■■■■■ ive been told then! Was told to always make sure that there is enough time spent on other work at the beginning of the shift to compensate for checks, incase vosa stop you then your in the ■■■■ if you havent got 15 minutes other work recorded!

The 15 minute thing is only a recommendation and if you did have less and a fault was found in a check then you would be hard pushed to claim you had done through checks. We sometimes pick the unit up in one depot and the trailer in another 20 minutes away. In that case we have a few minutes other work for checking the unit followed by a 20 minute drive and then another period of other work to check the trailer. If they are saying they think 15 minutes is enough to check an artic then just checking the unit will be less.

I was assuming that the OP was a day driver, like myself, who has to go through everything each time. In the 221 days that I have worked at my firm I have driven 97 different units and many more trailers. Obviously a tramper normally does the full works at the start of the working week and a quick scan the rest of the week.

The point is that regardless of what type of work you do, there is no rule that says you should not commence driving within 15 minutes of inserting the card
