Digi Card

May sound like a stupid question but do you have to have your digi card with you at all times, even when driving with an analogue unit? I’ve had a transport manager telling me I don’t have to, and drivers telling me I do have to, thanks.

You do.

Thanks for quick reply, was just curious it makes no difference but when people tell you things differently, you like to know the proper way. I find it strange but that a transport manager of a big company had this wrong, just goes to show you.

More often than not, a TM for a big company is no more than an office bod who no driving history. Smaller firms normally have a seasoned driver as a TM because they “should” have their head on straight. TM at our place has over 30 years of driving experience.

Ask your TM how he thinks the DVSA would do a road-side check if they couldn’t read what’s on your driver card because you don’t have it with you
