Sorry to bring this up again, I have searched the forum without success.
What is the correct procedure for transferring a digi card between trucks during a shift?
I’m doing something wrong as my total driving hours are incorrect, the procedure I have tried is…
- Set to rest and remove.
- Place card in new truck and start as normal.
- Set card to type of work being undertaken.
Your help and guidance much appreciated, thank you.
Stu
If u are just getting out of 1 truck and stright into another then what u are doing is ok but i would do a printout and wright on it truck change if card is out for say 5 minnits or more then do a manule entry when u put it in 2nd truck.

Not sure why you are setting it to rest as if you are moving trucks you aren’t on rest.
Press eject button.
Enter end country.
It asks if you want a printout, say no. No need to take a printout unless you need to correct something such as wrong use of mode.
Insert card into new vehicle.
It will show time of last ejection
It then asks if this time was the end of shift, select no.
Make manual entry by use of up and down arrows to account for the time while the card was not in a unit
Press OK
Select what mode you need for that period
Press OK It asks confirm manual entry?, select yes.
You’re good to go
If the period between the two vehicles is covered by different activities make one manual entry for the first one, which won’t bring you up to the current time, press OK, select the relevant mode and press OK. Then make a second entry, press OK, select mode, press OK and repeat until you have accounted for all the missing time.

How do you know they are incorrect. If it is from the printout how soon after stopping are you taking the print out? If you take a printout before allowing the mode to clock one minute of something other than driving your last driving session will not be included in the daily total, because until you clock one minute of something else the unit doesn’t know that driving session has finished.

Sounds like you are only moving the time forward 1 minute at a time. What I do if I wanted to add 15 minutes is press and hold the arrow button until it moves the time forward by 15 minutes then press the OK once, then select the mode I require and press OK once. That’s on a Siemens unit.

I would simply scroll through the electronic display after a suitable amount of time has elapsed to let all the cogs and wheels stop whirring, then just make a note of the time already driven, it saves doing a printout, as the paper rolls we had issued were written in gold illuminated print and you had to explain why you had wasted it
Thanks for the advice so far gentlemen.

As a self taught digi person, it seemed like the logical thing to do at the time, obviously not correct, thank you for the advice on that front.

From the printout dated 6/10/09; vehicle 1, start time of 00:00 to 04:21, drive time of 2.38 mins, followed by a further set of times, for vehicle 1 which I assume are for the shift of 7/10/09, date not shown on the printout, start time 21:02 to 23:52.
At this time I change to vehicle 2; start time 23:06, the clock in vehicle 2 was wrong, to 04:00, with a drive time of 1.02 mins giving a total drive time of 3 hrs 40 mins, my DHG had a drive time of 3 hrs 47 mins, the printout has a total drive time of 5 hrs 09 mins.
Some training required I think

From what I can understand your shifts begin in one day and end in the next. the printout gives daily totals - 24 hours from 00:00 - 24:00 - not shift totals.

…the clock in vehicle 2 was wrong…
How wrong? You can correct it by 1 minute per week, if it is out by a lot it requires a visit to the workshop. However if it was an hour out the chances are it was just the display time which hadn’t been changed to display local time, it doesn’t have to be. The digi tacho records all time in UTC (Universal Time Coordinate), which is as near as dammit the same as GMT, so at this time of the year it is 1 hour behind local time, BST. All manual entries are made in UTC so when you are making them you need to remember they will be an hour behind ‘real’ time until the last Sunday in October when they will be the same as UK time. Easy eh?

Shift starts at 21:00 to 04:45, so I am being a numpty, brain and gear also spring to mind, I know it works on 24 hours, its time for bed already!
Don’t remember how wrong the clock was but I’ll mention it to the TM, it’s a vehicle which I don’t drive very often.
Thanks for your advice once more
Stu
