As my digi card expires in a couple of weeks time,I have my new one ready.
However,in the booklet supplied,publication No. INS 169B, despit all the info therein,it does not tell one what to do with your old digi card,any ideas?,Shred it or return it?
Keep it for 28 days in case you get stopped then dispose of it, after making sure it has been downloaded. there is no need to return it.
Also note there is a good chance your current card will not work on its final day. If this is the case just take a printout at the start and end of the shift. there is no need to report this as a malfunction as the problem is well known .

i’d keep it , those old cards and the like make fantastic windscreen ice scrappers i have an old barclay card that i’ve had years that works a treat …
they are good for butter.
you know the sort of thing, you leave it in the fridge, and it just won’t spread.

when vosa ask why i keep removing my card. i just reply:
Bloody hungry 
why else would i do it. 
They may come in handy, maybe someone can reprogram it and make the gearbox magnet obsolete
Mines due to expire tonight,so this morning it ejected itself ( we have to leave ours in overnight to prove daily rest).
Just running on printouts now as the covering letter from dvla says and then I’ll just do a printout for today when I clock back on tomorrow and put the new card,so the theory goes!!! Lol
so does mine, and in case they want it back, my wife informed me at the weekend that she found mine in the pocket of my jacket, after its usual wash in the machine, looks clean, and works a treat, at least dvla will be pleased i`ve not sent them anything. ( germ wise )
