Digi and the Police

Has anyone been pulled over in their car by the police and been asked to show their digi card?

This happened to a friend of mine and my mate said no why do you want to see it, the copper replied " i have never seen one before and wanted to be nosey."

I have heard a few drivers say this but have never had it happen to me.

yeah i have,in cheltenham a few months ago same reason as the female copper never seen one before she was cute so i let her.

Not happened but if it did I would just say I didn’t have it with me*, none of their ■■■■ business and not our job to enlighten and educate the police.

Alternatively, depending on my mood at the time it might just be a two word answer with the second one being ‘off’.

*Wonders how long it will be?

I have heard the one about a lorry driver who was out shopping with his wife and he got nicked for not carrying his digicard.

I was on my way to work at the time

being obstructive is expensive. far easier to let them have a nosey and get on your way quicker and without them crawling over you and your car looking for something to issue a FPN for. diplomacy works with most of them

But nowhere near as much fun. [zb] diplomacy.

How would saying you don’t have it with you be obstructive anyway?

not in a legal sense, in a being awkward sense they would see it a simple request and you saying you dont have it (or less polite phrases) would be denying them their wish and is therefore obstructive in a more frustrating context

Yep, the A12 Police. The moron’s didn’t even know what Domestic rules were

There are very few occasions if they were to stop me in my car that I would actually have it with me anyway, to and from work being the only times.

That is neither awkward nor obstructive and they have no legal reason to ask for it I’m that situation.

A mate of mine is a copper , with a gun  . He reckons him and his buddy’s try to avoid pulling " heavies " as they know the truck driver will know more about tacho/wtd rules than they do

It was comical. There these 2 goons were, who looked like brother and sister, standing on the side of the A12, in the snow, with this massive book on the bonnet trying to find out what they were, and then told me i wasn’t covered on Domestics and i should be on EU’s
