Digi / Analogue Day

Last week I worked a 15 hour shift and drove two different vehicles. The first one was with an analogue tacho and the second with a digital.

Is it necessary to mark on the anaolgue chart EDR (end of daily rest) or in this case EWR (end of weekly rest) - I always do this with analogue charts but wondered if it was necessary / required. If so, given that I used a vehicle with a digi tacho in the afternoon do I mark SDR (start of daily rest) on the analogue chart? Presumably there is no requirement to manually input on either the analogue chart or my digi card the reference to either part of the shift, given that I have both records together anyway.

That is not a legal requirement but it may be a company policy

No requirement. Also it would be impossible to input the analogue part of the shift onto the digi card as you cannot make a manual entry for driving, only POA, break and other work.

As said some companies require it but it’s not a legal requirement.

If you’re using a digital tachograph after removing the chart the records for this further work will be on the Driver Card so there’s little point in writing on the chart but if you choose to write “SDR” then it should show the correct end of shift time and not the time that the chart was removed.

There’s no requirement to make any reference on the chart to the second vehicle but you could make a note on the back if you wanted to, it’s really a personal choice not a legal requirement.

Thanks Rog, Coffeeholic and Tachograph. As always a fountain of knowledge when I’m scratching me head. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I can give a bit back, only 10 months in and all.
