Anyone do afternoons regular?? A lot of people on here seem to hate night work, just wondering if many work afternoons shifts. Thing is you cant do much in morning before you start work and then at end of shift its time for bed? At least with nights you do actually get some decent hours off.
Depends on what start time suits individual circumstances. When I was working we had different shifts times, most guys put in for whatever suited them ,never a shortage of volunteers for any shift. There was early mornings 3-4 am (my preference) ,through to mid morning, lunchtime mid afternoon, nights 7 to 10.00 pm ish what was not covered was then put out to agency
I cover some shifts for a food haulage company which is a tidy little number of a job when they ask for me. Starts around 6/7pm, single trunk to either Gateshead, Nottingham or Penrith. Usually takes about 6/7 hours and get paid for 8 on night rate.
Good gig because I get up about 10, have all day to myself, dinner with wife, work, straight to bed when I get in.
I’m on permanent afternoons, start between 2 & 6. As others have said, you have all day to yourself then pop out for a few hours in the late afternoon/evening. I’m fortunate I get daily rate for job & knock which averages 8hrs. It works for me.
