Oh well put some aftermarket heatshield on…
Doesn’t work for car decats. The MOT examiner has to check for the EU approval stamp on them so even none approved ones fail.
No chance that testers are going to be unwrapping heatshield bandages or removing guards to check stuff on any vehicle. Not sure what you’ve said is right for cars. Seem to think the 2012 changes were that cat had to be fitted if was originally as standard. The EU approved cat fitted liability falls on commercial garages fitting them didn’t think that was a fail item as long as a cat is present.

Found his CM article in it they’re saying detecting NOx and particulates with some handheld device. Sounds a bit like TV detector van type bluster though and they possibly haven’t really got any system that would reliably work anywhere near sorted yet.

That’s hopes and dreams from those who’ve bypassed them. People saying its all bluster are trying to convince themselves. Sensors are massively smaller than they used to be. You can get a breath alcohol analyser that clips onto your iPhone and adds barely an inch to the length.
It would be well within the realms of current technology to build a handheld NOx and particulate analyser.
Not saying there’s no technological way to scientifically measure these things but read the article they obviously have nothing workable in place presently and haven’t decided if they’re even going to go that way or interrogate vehicle ECUs
