Diesel nicked A13

ajt:
It wouldn’t exactly be rocket science to design a tank in a way its pretty much secure this side of an electric drill

Either way you’re losing your diesel. If they don’t have to drill then you’re avoiding some repair costs at least. Think I’ll have to do some Googling about truck security. I work in alarm monitoring and I’m sure we could come up with something if the market isn’t already flooded with options.

Yes that would make for a more expensive repair(a hole in the tank) but think along these lines, if you are 1 of 5 or 6 trucks parked over night, and assuming that the diesel pixies are opportunist thieves, as in they cant case the situation that far in advance. Then I would assume that there would be a quick size up off all the trucks parked, and then its pick of the easy targets 1st, Doesn’t mean that you would never get done, but if you had more extensive security measures then you’d be pushed further down the “pixies” priority list. Though if you are on your own, then expect an empty tank, and large repair bill. Just a thought, I’m, not a pixie so I wouldn’t be able to get their mindset

Kev Hopper @ BYC raves about these

Black Ford Focus,53 plate I think 3 fellas,saw it happening last week to a co-op artic…broad daylight A13…

Plod called theives gone before they arrived.

Why can’t something be designed that when the fuel level drops with the engine off the horns blare out continuously or something? Would probably make the thieving scum ■■■■ themselves

How much are they? No prices on the site always raises an eyebrow :grimacing:

It would be an awfully good idea if our trade associations obtained a unit and trailer and parked it in a ‘Hot Area’ having filled both tanks with a
mixture of Ad Blue and Derv taking the outfit to the area on a seperate tank. This would ensure massive bills for whoever used/bought the nicked fuel,
might have them thinking again, least a bit of pay back.

Has been bad round there for a while. Wouldn’t consider stopping within 10 miles of there!

Just a thought , can we not have a sticky thread where people can post where they have had diesel nicked so the rest of us can avoid parking there? Just a thought…

Stick a pin in a map of the UK and someone will have had diesel nicked at some point where the pin lands.

That’s as maybe, but it would show where the latest thefts have taken place.

Good idea I reckon

Do people really park in lay byes just to save 20 quid?

think I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve done it.

Aren’t we drivers, if the company won’t pay for parking in services why should drivers?

I think they won’t say a price online due to the quote being dependant on the amount of vehicles to be equipped. the trucks I drive are monitored by GPS kaugjälgimine - seadmed ja rakendused Metrotecist and I am happy they are. never a single call from the gaffer asking where I am and no worries about any fuel being stolen.

More polite than I was going to put it but pretty much what I was going to say

I purchased a similar one of these and it was £185.00. Seemed a lot of money but it is cheaper than losing 500 litres and the damage to the tank. Hopefully makes them go to another lorry!!
