Dieppe to barcelona

Hi all new to the forum and first post… doing my first euro trip next week dieppe down to barcelona would very much appreciate any suggestions as for the best route down (40t artic) obviously a very well travelled route by you guys, looking for the happy medium best way possable tolls to be expected…
cheers lads.

I should go on the Rouen, Evreux, Chartres, Orleans, Bourges, Millau route, seems the quickest, certainly the most scenic and possibly the cheapest. I cant help you with the cost as the badge in the windscreen paid for it all.

Wait for the others, Trucknet works like that, someone will always come up with a different route, then you can take your pick from them :stuck_out_tongue:

Take your missus and tell her it is a holiday

That’s the way I’d go for Barcelona & I nearly always use Dieppe, out of interest, where in Barcelona are you going?

Ross.

Thats a good enough route to take! :sunglasses:

Now they’ve built the ‘bridge in the sky’ (with English help of course  ) which I’ve never used BTW, it’s a decent route if your not TO heavy going towards Clermont Ferand!

You could head down towards Toulous from Orleans, or route around the South of Paris towards Lyons or even down to Bordeaux if the fancy takes you.

All depends who’s paying, how fast you want to get there or even what day your travelling on!

Try and ask others on the boat (if there are any nowadays :open_mouth: ) and follow them, thats how I started way back in … ahem … cough … a couple of years ago lmao  :sunglasses:

Of course, check a DECENT MAP and please don’t just rely on a Sat Nav!

Agreed, Millau for me every time and just for Zebadee…

Free and safe parking in Zona Franca,it is the very big industrail area, you can walk to the tube or bus to the city to see “Las Ramblas”,watch for pickpockets, street wise and common sense.Makro on the industrial estate offers good food and menus at midday onwards.Spain TIR depot is safe to park nearby or opposite the Nissan car plant.Lot of nice ladies in the city,to see.

The bridge is 16 euros IIRC but much of the route is toll-free as the French Government are trying to stimulate the region.

The bridge has cut 45 minutes off of the journey time but even before it opened, when you had to go through the town of Millau and do the ferocious climb out of town, that was the way I went.

If coming back via Millau, and heavy,it takes me ages to wind the engine up,and lose tacho driving time, quicker that way going south, but not north.Very scenic with plenty of “aire de repos”,rest stops.TOO expensive by Bordeaux to Toulouse,La Jonquera.Parking on the border is a bit dodgy, prostitutes in truck parking and on the national roads to Barcelona. But safety in numbers, lots of new truck stops. There was a picture on truck net of a parked truck that caught fire in the summer, the mirror reflection heated up the trailer plastic.

Thanks lads for the info, will most likley run down and back via milau don’t want to pay to much going bordeaux, toulouse, got no info as yet where in barca i am going not to bothered about that, however curious as to how far i’ll get down through france from dieppe on a 10hr any suggestions as to where to stop■■?, how many hours to barca after that?.

Anywhere south of Bourges will find you within a day of Barcelona, there are some cracking routiers down that way too, if you want to do a good 10 I reckon close to Fitou, another favorite stopping place of mine.

Mine too, I’ve still got some of the biggest pine cones you’ll ever see that I picked from a tree there years ago. I had to climb on to the roof of a phone box to get them, (which dates it) no way would I be climbing onto the top of a phone box these days :open_mouth:

If you can still get your leg over a racing motorcycle you should be able to hop onto a phone box. I did

If stuck down there, there is LLoret de Mar.Tourist sea side resort.Used to use the bus station, which was a truck stop too.I was cheeky and parked for free behind the big hotels, where the coaches would park.

Thanks Harry, now I NEED to go & try it (bridge that is! :sunglasses: )

Fitou was also a fave stop & I’ve spent many a happy time at Lloret, even sunbathing on the little beach on the way into town on 23rd Dec whilst the ‘natives’ were wrapped up in fur coats!

Not that far South of Barcelona is Salou.
We used to park in the coach / lorry park there, (showers and snacks).
It’s a short walk to the town centre, with all the facilities you may want, including the beach. Probably much the same as Lloret de Mar.
I only used Salou once, for a weekend break, 6 or 7 years ago. I’ve never been to Lloret.

Or even Sitges, don’t drop the soap in the showers though

this time of year Salou will be like a gost town Lloret will still be ok, not full of tourists though, if you are near Salou you may as well go the extra mile and park at the Gran Buffet in Cambrils.
