mum and dad bought me loads, as i was nuts on cars and trucks.
i think i’ve got about 300 up there, mainly dinky, matchbox and corgi, dating from the 50’s to the 80’s
Harry Monk:
Very nice models… I have this rather cruder beast, who’s going to be first to identify it?
Nobody tried yet Harry is it a Mack, looks a bit like the german built Hanomag just been reading about in Heritage comercials
a couple of italeria model kits i have done
Anyone make models for a commission, wouldn’t mind seeing 0447 on my mantle piece
(miss the old heap )
Does anyone know how to make/obtain tranfers for repainting truck models? Would like to buy some charity shop/jumble sale models and re-livery (I wont say restore as I’m not great with a paintbrush and never used an airbrush) some trucks…
Some nice models here
I will confess i only have 3 1:50 corgi models
Longs of Leeds Daf XF and curtainsider
Phillips of Seahouses MAN F2000 and curtainsider

I buy and sell models usually at model truck swapmeets. If you are looking for a site that gives you info about repainting and obtaining decals as we call them go to modeltruckworld.co.uk. you will get all the info you need and i know there are certain gentlemen on that site will do decals in any livery you want.
extrucker:
Here are some old pics of my collection:Model Car Truck Motorcycle World
I need to update as I have sold some models and bought more code 3’s for my Stobart and Turners of Soham collection.Fixed the link, but without a login to the site the photos are not visable…Colingl
Here are the photos that are on the link that extrucker has posted for those of you who cannot log in to the site.
A small selection of the models in the photos above are code 3 models (one-off’s) made by myself which were commissioned by extrucker. If you are interested in commissioning a model truck, wether it be a replica of own truck or even a ficticious model, please visit my website and take a look on the ‘Built To Order’ page. www.bennifiedmodeltrucks.webs.com
If that is one persons collection that is unreal
So it seems 1:50 seems to be the scale that everyone prefers?

Preferred, yes but mass production seems to be geared toward 1:76 (00 gauge railway size)
There are some pretty serious collections there, as a kid the only toys I had were (by choice) lorries, I had a huge collection, looking through the pics I notice that the Guinness Merc tanker is based of the Texaco tanker that was pulled by a Ford Louisville, I had one or two, but they were in a different scale to my preffered Corgi fleet, so they didn’t come out of the yard much I got into the Siku models in the latter stages of my playing lorries days, IMHO they were the business back then, although the current Corgi range is fantastic, the detail is very good, makes me wish I was younger.
I have a couple of models myself, promotional stuff from when I was at TRUCK magazine, my favourite is an orange Daf XF similar to the one in Benni’s pictures. My Dad has an Iveco Eurostar in Ferrarri colours that was built to commemorate the first Schumacher world championship, he checked it out on a Ferrarri memorabillia website and it’s worth a small fortune now, should’ve kept that one
What can I say that collection is just awesome. I noticed a Benton Bros Merc Actros in their new coulors maroon and grey can you tell me where I could get one from please.? I used to drive for them a few years ago now. I have the Volvo FH Curtainsider and would like to add 1 or 2. My uncle John drove the Scania long nose for them bit now He as gone to Fogartys of Boston. Keep em coming there must be loads more of you that collect. Also a big thanks to all of you that have already posted your pics and also to those of you who have posted links up for us all to use.

1.50 is the best scale in my opinion and it seems most people go for that scale. Ebay is a classic example. there are loads always going on there but its a bit of a lottery some are way overpriced .You see 1 model say going for 25 pounds and the same model you find someone selling for twice that amount.
